We Hit a deer with my truck!! Darn!!

Post by annie oakley »

Thursday Morning we left the house as usual. Put my head back and closed my eye's like every morning. Mike drives to work and I drive home. I hadn't gone to sleep yet, when I heard OH shi*!!! from mike as we were trying to stop. I opened my eye's and saw a 4 point Buck leaping in front of the truck. :yikes: Just as we came to a dead stop we hit him full body broadside with the front of the truck. :hyper: then in slow motion it seemed that 4 point buck seemed to go ass over tea kettle to the bushes he came out of and hit the ground and rolled about 3 feet. He raised his head up and then just dropped. Mike and I were sick about it. :cry: But he was dead by then. We are in the process of getting the truck an appt to look atwhat it will need. The left headlite is totally wacked, the grill is loose as a goose as is the other lite and the Bumper is bent up and down. The front grill looks like it's on a swivel.
My heart was in the top of my mouth when it was all over and I don't think I breathed from "OH shi*" til we got half way to work.
So we are :driving: mikes farm truck to work we are afraid to drive imy truck very far. It's drivable but everything is so loose. We were't hurt, but that poor dear was. So Now we get quotes and go from there. Love Oma

Oma;

Glad to hear you are both OK. Really too bad about the deer, and too bad about the truck. However, right now you two are the most important!

Bless you;

Most importantly you & Mike were not injured!
I've seen some really banged up and totaled vehicles from deer.
When we were making preparations for my daughter's wedding, she & I were on our way to the reception hall.
Luckily, I was in a 35 MPH zone because there were 3 deer that came from the south so fast that I hit the brakes, and one hit the front of my car, did a flip and got up and jumped a fence on the north side of the road.
My daughter about pee'd her pants because they came out of nowhere so quickly and I told her I thought they were German Shepards!!!!!!!!

Morning Oma,

So glad to hear that you are both OK but sorry about the truck. They really can do the damage on a vehicle.

Love, Maggie
