Kat,
You know, one of the symptoms of radiation sickness is nausea, and it occurs after a patient accumulates enough radioactivity to exceed a certain threshold. I'm not saying that you experienced radiation sickness, but there appears to me to be a possibility that if the timing was just right, with the Nexium already providing the right environment to predispose your colon to an inflammatory reaction, it might just be possible that if your body was not purging the radiation fast enough, the accumulated radiation at that point might have been sufficient to trigger some sort of genetic "event" that set things in motion. After all, if the risk were insignificant, they wouldn't need to wear lead suits when carrying those pills around. Also, it's possible to occasionally get "pills" with the wrong dosage, despite everyone's best efforts.
A couple of years ago, one of our members had her thyroid hormone supplement prescription refilled, and when she took the first one, she had a terrible reaction. After a lot of medical intervention, she finally stabilized, but she now has some permanent medical issues, as a result of that incident. The dosage rate of that pill was 10,000 times too high, due to a mistake in a shipment that was sent to her pharmacy.
If you thought the handling of that little radioactive pill was "entertaining", consider this true story: When Sally, the founder of the original board where many of us first became acquainted, had her very first MC reaction, she was standing in the middle of the lobby of a brand new public library, where she held the position of head librarian, when out of the blue, she suddenly had explosive D. As if the shock and embarrassment of that were not enough, believe it or not, somebody called in a hazmat team, (white protective suits and all), to clean it up, and "detoxify" the area. Can you imagine that? No joke. Ordinarily, I wouldn't post something like that about someone else, but I'm sure that Sally won't mind, since she posted it more than once, herself. Anyway, that story illustrates how most people don't have the foggiest idea what MC actually is.
Never worry about being thought a pest - that's one thing that will never happen. We're all here for the same reason - to share experiences, and to learn. Most likely, you're right - the Nexium probably caused your MC.
You're most welcome,
Tex
