PCP appt today

Post by Babsey »

I apologize to everyone for still complaining. I think I am having a meltdown!
I've been having heart palpatations for a few days so my office manager made me see my PCP today. I had an EKG and it's (PVC) premature ventricular contraction. Nothing serious, just annoying and probably due to stress. I've stopped having coffee :coffee: and quit smoking (for the 50th time) again today.
The doc wants me to try Lexapro to help with the depression and anxiety. I asked him why no one knows alot about MC and he said, "what do you mean no one knows?" I told him that I have been to three docs and then he reminded me that it was called "microscopic" which meant MINIMAL inflammation.
Like that was supposed to be less serious that I'm making it??????? Like I'm not having symptoms becuz it's only MINIMAL???????????
I dunno if I will try the Lexapro. I've been off anti-depression/anxiety meds for two years and swore I would never take them again, but somethings gotta give, before i just snap! :help:

I'm so sorry but I can relate to everything you are saying......

I believe it is called "microscopic" because it can only be found with a microscope.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor and don't play one on TV.

I told him that I have been to three docs and then he reminded me that it was called "microscopic" which meant MINIMAL inflammation.

Are you freakin kidding me? Please tell "that" to a parent who just lost a baby due to oh, let's say, Leukemia. Does he think pathology is some kind of joke? I'd be kicking him so far .................................................................!!!

Lexapro is a pretty strong drug ~ do I recall correctly, that you work in a Doctor's office? A few years back I was facing the decision, to be or not to be, put on a similar drug. Ultimately I chose a low dose, 10 pill script for Xanax to take, ONLY WHEN NEEDED. It got me through the rough period, without long term side effects and the ultimate withdrawal.
Still, if your having anxiety to the point of palpitations you need to do something, find your stress triggers and delete/delete/delete. Good Luck with what ever you decide to do!

No Snapping allowed here,

I so hear you...and what kind of idiot thinks that microscopic means minor?!! Aren't deadly viruses and bacteria and a whole host of other nasty things microscopic???

Complain all you want. You have something to complain about! (I'm also from the school of suck-it-up-walk-it-off, so I understand where you're coming from with not wanting to be seen as a complainer. ) But I don't think you're complaining unproductively. Venting to us here will help you to feel heard, which may help you to feel less stressed. And you can get feedback, and know that you're not alone, which is all very productive.

Big hugs,

Babs----let it all out---thats why we are here----and I am sorry to see U in such a state---
I can feel your anguish with they way U are being treated----MINIMAL---and yes I can believe the ignorance that some of these docs. have
Been thru a few----
Listen U cant do everything all at the same time----ok try the coffee--maybe 1/2 a cup and then lower and lower---the smoking is really hard---so maybe set out a few butts a day---and work your way down---

Babs--I smoked for years---Louie NEVER even put a butt in his mouth---and when he retired 15 years back---thats when I HAD to slowly quit and I did----
Cant deny that I miss my morning smokes and being on the phone going thru one after the other----that was bad~~~~

Why wont U try anxiety pills/depression meds.??? Maybe what U had before wasnt the right ones for U----

Please do take care----and let us hear from U---

Luve Barbara

PSSSS. TRY CHEWING GUM when U feel the need for a butt

Babsey,

So sorry to hear of the narrow minded doc's response to your issues. Please realize just because they have fancy initials after their name doesn't always mean they are intelligent!

A few suggestions for anxiety that have worked for me; and also have the benefit of working on digestion as well - passionflower vine tincture taken with water can calm down even the worst anxiety, and it helps to slow the motility of the gut. Chamomile tea is wonderful too. (As with any herbal med, do a little research first - I have achieved remission, and now use the passionflower tincture to calm my nerves.)

And quitting smoking - boy, do I feel for you. I have done it with the new drug Chantix, I quit on October 5th. However, check with a doc if you decide to try it out - it takes away all the withdrawals and cravings.

Sugar free lollipops and twizzlers are a great help when you crave cigarettes.
