Hey Barbara!!
You caught me before I got around to posting!!!

Yes, I got here yesterday afternoon but thing were "a poppin" so I didn't have time to turn on the computer.

I walked in the front door and heard a funny noise. Didn't take long to find out I had forgotten to take care of shutting off the water to my washing machine. Cold water (thank God) hose "busted". I was flooded.

Had some "cleanup" people come in and they cleaned up as much as they could (included taking up carpets and removing pads. They claim that they will "repad" and reinstall the existing carpet. Gee, I didn't really think it was worth saving but if they can do that.... fine. I don't want to spend any more on this place than I have to. No evidence of mold so it probably hadn't been flooding for too long. A lot of went right through the floor (manufactured home). May have to replace some sub floor after it dries out. I know someone who can do that for me. I was pretty upset yesterday but much calmer today. I THINK the insurance will cover all but the deductable. I sure hope so. They said an "adjuster" will be by in a coulple of days. In the meantime, it is extremely noisy here due to fans & dehumidifiers so I will be at Mom's place most of the time. Slept there last night.

Mom is at her sister's in Ga. Have to go back and get her the latter part of next week.

Mike got his buck for archery season. 9 points. Don't know how big but big enough so Mike couldn't get it up on his ATV to get it home. Had to drag it out. He said it's the biggest one he's ever gotten as far as weight. Probably the 2nd best rack also. I was kinda sad, actually, but he'd probably have gotten killed during gun season anyway. At least Mike eats the venison. He will be leaving for Pensacola tomorrow. I told him to be sure to turn off the water to the washer. HaHa

Will write more later.

Wow! Shirley,

Sorry to hear that you had such a rude surprise when you opened the door, but I guess that it's lucky that most of it leaked through the floor - it could have been a lot worse, especially if it got into the electrical wiring and all the furnishings. That may result in an ugly water bill, too.

I had a couple of those myself, (ugly water bills, that is), early in the summer, when a couple of tree roots crushed a section of the supply line between them, and finally caused the pvc pipe to crack. Since that line was over half a mile long, and went through an overgrown pasture, and we were/are having a severe drought, and we couldn't remember exactly where we had buried the line, (roughly 30 years ago), it took quite a while to find the leak. LOL.

Good for Mike. I understand how you feel, though. I used to be a serious deer hunter, myself, but it finally dawned on me that I wasn't really "mad" at them anymore, and I switched from a gun to a camera.

It's good to see you posting again - we've missed you.

Love,
Tex

Shirley,

What a mess you had to deal with! I hope your floors are salvagable. The fans and dehumidifiers are noisy, but it's very important to make sure everything is completely dry.
