More Evidence That IBS Is Simply Undiagnosed MC

Post by tex »

Hi All,

A new research project has been announced to investigate the effects of a low carb diet, on diarrhea-predominant IBS patients. Note this quote from the study's prospectus:
Patients with IBS, especially IBS-D, anecdotally report improvement in their gastrointestinal symptoms after initiating a very low carbohydrate diet. However, no study has investigated the effect of a very low carbohydrate diet on symptoms and quality of life in patients with IBS-D.
Well Duh! Obviously these patients are gluten-sensitive, and either undiagnosed celiac or MC patients, or they are in an earlier stage of either of those diseases, IMO.

The medical community continues to be incredibly slow to catch on to the spectrum of gluten sensitivity, but hopefully, if they keep pecking away at it, they will eventually be able to see the light.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
