Testing Bosellia, For Muscle Pain In Lower Back

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Okay, since I don't have much of a statistical database to work with, this early in the game, (only a single set of data, so far), please consider this to be preliminary results.

To reiterate, I woke up this morning with a back ache, that seemed to be due to a muscle in the lower back, on the left side. It was bad enough that I had trouble getting out of bed. After wasting a bunch of time trying to find a dose recommendation on the internet, I finally gave up and took a couple of 75mg capsules of boswellia serata extract, for a total dose of 150mg. Within about an hour, I'd say that about 75 % of the pain was gone, (which was sufficient that I was able to forget about it for a while. A couple of hours later, however, I began to notice some pain, again, so about three and a half hours after I took the first two, I took another two capsules, and again, most of the pain went away, after about an hour. About three hours after I took the second pair of capsules, I took two more, and then took a bath, got dressed and went to a banquet. I forgot all about the backache, and now that I'm home again, it just dawned on me I haven't felt the backache since I got dressed for the banquet. and it seems to be completely gone. Altogether, I took 450mg of extract, which amounts to 135mg of boswellic acid, over a period of six and a half hours.

Of course, all of this could be just a coincidence, (IOW, the pain might have gone away on it's own), so we'll see what happens, the next time I have an opportunity to test this stuff. So far, so good. I think the next time I try it, I'll double up on the dose, since I'm still far short of the 1,200mg per day, that was used in the German trials.

It's always enjoyable to report positive results.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Mornin' Tex,

Well, this certainly sounds promising. It seems to me that there may have been a positive effect, given the improvement in pain after about an hour all 3 times. I don't know about you, but when I have that kind of back pain it doesn't come and go - it usually remains constant for a day or two.

Would you please let us know again where you ordered it and the cost? It is exciting to think that there may be an antiinflammatory/pain reliever other than NSAIDs for us MCers.

Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Love,

Polly

P.S. What was the award for? Corn-related?
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

How interesting....will be looking into some for both of us. I cannot tolerate NSAID's so pain relief choices for my DJD and tendon problems are very limited. Thanks for being a guinea pig for all of us...

Polly and Carrie,

It's looking better all the time. The pain started to come back last night, around midnight, but I ignored it until this morning. It's not as bad as yesterday, but obviously, it didn't go away spontaneously. So, about 45 minutes ago, I took four capsules, (twice the amount I took each time yesterday), and already the pain has pretty much gone away. These are very small capsules. I would guess that it would take three or four of them to make up the volume of a "regular size" capsule.

Polly, the award was for something near and dear to your heart - outstanding soil and water conservation efforts.

Love,
Tex

It's now over 8 hours later, and I haven't felt the need to take any more capsules. Once in a while, during the day, I could feel a little bit of back pain, but nothing to classify as bothersome. Right now, I can't detect any pain at all. Either the back pain has run it's course, and it's gone, or the boswellia is holding it in check for a mighty long time. Time will tell, I suppose.

Polly,

Oops, I just noticed that I forgot to post the link to the product I bought, when I posted earlier. Sorry about that - CRS seems to be harder to control than MC.  Here's what I bought:
