CRAP - churning gut etc...
I was up late last night - I was bloated and my gut was gurgling - not sure why Well this morning wasn't much better. Had to make a potty dash for the first time in a long time....
Then the news about the bombings in London (terrorist stuff always makes my gut hurt....) we are supposed to fly to MN next Friday. I *hate* to fly anyways - less so when there is increased terrorist activity Really dreading it now!
Then I call my mom and she is on her way out the door to take my dad to the hospital- he is having chest pains She called a bit ago - they are keeping him as he has an elevated heart rate again and they are giving him beta blockers (this happened about 2 1/2 years ago, but the meds didn't work and they had to go in and *shock* his heart into the normal rhythm - we hope they work this time!)
SO while I think I may have a tummy bug - the events of the day are not helping me feel any better I had to make another dash - so I took an Immodium - thankfully I had just gotten back from the store - can you imagine the mad dash through the grocery store - all 3 kids with me - to make it to the bathroom
I think I'll go take a nap,
Mary

Mary, that sucks!!!!
Well, I certainly hope you still come to MN, keep me informed so we can do lunch or something :)
That terrorist stuff really screwed me up this morning too. I was all depressed about it. Same feeling I got after 9/11. I guess I thought this war was coming to an *end* and now it seems like it could go on forever.
I'm sorry to hear about your father and your gut-illness. You really don't need that right now.. and I hope your father can be helped without shocking him. That just sounds too invasive!
Love,
Christine

Hi, Mary,
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I sure hope the beta-blockers work.
As to your tummy gurgling and a couple of mad dashes, I share the feeling. I wonder if they were premonitions? I woke up this morning and heard about London and ran immediately to the bathroom. But that has been going on since yesterday. It might have something to do with all the fresh figs I have been eating.
About London......I really have nothing to say. I feel horrible about it and words fail me. I am so so sorry.
Lots of love to all,
Sally

Hang in there Mary - It will get better!
I hope everything works out with your dad. It is awful worrying about loved ones.
Feel better soon, ok?!

Hope things settle down
Hi Mary:
Hope your tummy settles down soon. That kind of stress can get to anyone.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope the treatments work and he doesn't have to go through another surgery, but whatever helps, right?
That's awful about London isn't it? Those terrorists are so evil to target innocent people.
I'm upset about it also.

Do something nice for you today
Well, I *think* my gut is on the mend - I had a bland dinner of chicken and rice and it isn't making much noise - and no further "dashes"....
My mom called this evening - they ended up doing the cardiac version procedure (I don't think it's "too" invasive - they somehow insert a probe and stimulate the heart into a more normal rhythm) on my dad again since the beta-blockers caused his BP to drop really low - so he is actually doing fine now - they are keeping him a day or two to run some more tests to see what the root cause is (he had a full cardiac workup about 6 mos. ago and they didn't find anything) and apparently there is some indication of some minor damage to the muscle (perhaps there is evidence of a minor heart attack having happened at some point??) so that will be investigated as well. I just hope there is some resolution as I am not comfortable going out of town until he is clearly on the mend....
I am going to bed - it is late - but Mike and I got sucked into watching the Live Aid concert being replayed on PBS - it was 20 years ago - but I remember it like it was yesterday - pretty cool - todays music is so lame compared to the 70's and 80s!!!
Thanks for your support and well-wishes!
Love,
Mary

HI Mary,
Glad you are feeling somewhat better and I hope your dad recovers very soon. My gut was churning all day yesterday. I know England is a big country but with my step-son, wife and son there now and their family it sends me into fits. They are in Barrow-In-Furness in NW England but it still hit home. I remember 911 all too well when Frank's daughter lived directly across the street from the towers - that was a really hard time.
Take care and hope all is well.
Maggie

Hi Mary,
I'm glad to hear that your GI system is settling down again, and your dad's situation is so much inproved. There seems to have been a small epidemic of GI distress lately--I'm just getting over a round, myself, that I blame on sugar.
I fully agree with your abservation that "todays music is so lame compared to the 70's and 80s". I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who feels that way. I'm not sure what it was about the period that inspired so much good music, but I wish we could find that combination again.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
