The WHO recently released a current cumulative accounting of the total cases, and total deaths due to the avian influenza A/(H5N1) virus:

Note that the death rate is slightly over 63%, based on the total number of cases reported - pretty grim statistics, to say the least.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Wow.......... It also shows places I definitely don't want to visit!! Some countries have been hit quite hard. Not that I'm planning to go overseas but I won't be visiting those if I do.
I wonder if the US will be fortunate enough to dodge this one. I surely hope so.

I notice that the number of cases are declining, but I'm afraid that it will always be there, waiting for the right mutation, and/or the right conditions. Bird migration patterns make it a very, very high risk, probably for decades to come.
