This itches and hurts little.... help I need a :nurse: I haven't been constipated that I recall....but then my memory is as long as an 80 yr old lately. Well, Scooter is just adorable as I've already stated in another thread!!!

Other than the Prep. H I don't know what to tell you except perhaps soak in a warm bath. I think I've heard that before, but it seems like cold would do a better job of shrinking the little bugger so I wouldn't swear to it.

Actually, Oma, I have read that D causes hemmorhoids moreso than constipation. I never had them until I started getting D.

Oh, boy, this is the Hemmy Queen here!!! I've had them every since I had my children. Don't know why. Most of the time they leave me alone, but once in a while.... :yikes: I use Prep H and have for years. I find the ointment works better than the cream. It's messier, though. Wear a Light Days pad in your undies.

Wayne, we do NOT need smilies for this discussion!!

Hahahahahaha.

Sally, thanks for the clarification. That would have been a tough assignment, anyway.

I agree with Shirley that D seems to be as much or more of a contributor than C. Apparently, either the chemical imbalance in the lumen, or Leaky Gut Syndrome, trigger inflammation of the shallow blood vessels involved.

I once had a bad hemorrhoid episode that was caused by a mix of butter and special spices that was separately packaged with a certain type of Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn. It caused a lot of inflammation and bleeding, and I thought I was a goner, until I made the connection with the "goop" that was packaged with the popcorn. Once I stopped eating it, the problem disappeared in two days.

About 'rhoids

Post by Lucy »

OMA,

They are caused by eating DOUGHNUTS!

Seriously, mine flared at the same time my thyroid was goitering or at least soon after the surgery and a round of ANTIBIOTICs for a possible infection in the suture line.

Haven't had that since getting off the gluten, THANK goodness!
I really believe that the obvious swelling I was having in that area was similar to that higher up in the colon -- you know, the swelling in the lumen that gives us pencil-wide poop.

Mine had become strangulated, but I elected not to have it lanced (ouch!). Treatment was HOT sitz bathes, some kinda steroid suppositories, stool softners (now THAT'S a joke), and Citrucel to prevent constipation.

Let me recommend that if this happens to you, NOT having battery acid until THAT inflammation is gone!

Seems as though I was given another suppository as well, but it's been a while, so can't remember what that would've been.

Sure hope you recover soon, OMA!

Yours, Luce

Well I could tell you some real horror stories about my episodes with THE BIG H's. I have them external and internally. I have also had one that turned into a blood clot, and had inflamation of the anus at the same time. This all happened at the same time that I was waiting for my surgery outwest to have the wall separating the vagina and rectum repaired. Let me tell you it was so painful I would almost pass out. Not to mention I was in full D mode, so the constant running to the toilet made it much worse. By the time they did the surgery, they had to fully rebuild the section. This is pretty grafic, but it truly happened, and I don't know what I would have done without finally being prescribed protozone. Before that the only thing I had were the predisone suppositories to dull the pain, but there was no way I could use them because of the inflamation to the anus. I was going to the pharmacy and looking for anything with a high zylocaine dosage to put on so that I could get the suppositories in that would help get rid of the inflamation and heal the Hemeroids. I found that origel used for babies when teething helped but the pharmacist he knew my problems suggested to use lanocaine until I could get back to my doctor and ask him for the proctozone. And that helped ease the pain, but once I got the procotoze, I was in heaven. It took the outside pain away almost immediately. And now I cannot be without it. When I had the blood clot also I had gone to a doctor who didn't really understand what was happening, and she missed it. But the toilet water was red through and through every time I went, and when they found what was causing it, it was too late to lance it or whatever they do as I was going in for surgery and they didn't want to do anything more to me. The result was I bled out for two weeks. The surgery fixed the problems of my rectum falling out of me, and so now I only have to deal with periodic episodes of the internal ones getting inflamed then bleeding out. They had to check me once again just last August as I was even passing blood clots. Next time they might hust have to take them out if I bleed that bad once again. The other thing is a nitro mixture they fix up at the pharmacy that helps prevent the bleeding for the external ones. But my GI doctor outwest gave me a cream that a fellow GI doctor invented in England and it is derived from high blood pressure pills mixed in with a base. He gave me a huge jar of it when I was leaving, and the recipe to give to another pharmacist once I run out. Both work equally as well I think. Because they can go from bad to worse keep an eye out for any real big changes, as you can move on to the more severe results I ended up with during flares. And if anyone has ever had inflamation of the anus or a hemeroid turn into a blood clot they know what I am talking about. I am not sure of anyone else, but I just started getting them as I got this disease, the constant spasms did me in.

I hope some of this might help you, and perhaps a few sitz baths and get you through this. I really, really feel for anyone that gets them and also has this disease. But now it is time for me to go to sleep, but I just had to respond to your post before I shut my eyes. Good luck

Gentle hugs
