uh oh - what does it mean if pooh floats???

Post by Carrie »

Hi everyone. For the first time in ages I had a bit of a "floater" this morning. I hope I am not coming out of remission. In July 2004, two weeks before my LC erupted, I noticed that my stools had become coil-shaped and floated. Other than that nothing seemed out of the ordinary and I felt fine. Then suddenly on 7/6/04 my LC started with total watery D that lasted for 6 months.

I feel well and have no other GI symptoms aside from ongoing bloating that it doesn't really bother me. But then again, last July, I had none either - just the oddly shaped, floating stools.

Love,
Carrie

Hi Carrie!

I think Luce is the expert on floaters! The usual reason for floaters is an excess of fat. Have you been eating more fat than usual? Regardless, it appears that not all of the fat is being absorbed......and you are pooping it out. I hope it's temporary and that Norman does not start cutting up.

Love,

Polly

Hi Carrie,

Yes, Lucy appears to be the floater-expert LOL!!

If it helps you to know that I have floaters all the time, well then you are welcome to the information - mine do float every time and I have decided not to give it a care as long as I have only one or two BMs a day and they are in the Norman style.

I hope you are feeling good even with floaters!

Love,
Karen

I think if they just float and are somewhat normal stool forms that it's not anything to worry about. I would say if it's Diarrhea or an unformed blob that it's undigested fat.

I get floaters, sinkers, ghosts, you name it I can do it. LOL

I have floaters now and then and don't give it alot of thought. I will have an incident (unfoarmed stools and slight D) now and then If I get stressed or eat too many wrong things too often...for the most part it hasn't bothered me much...I have been on one asacol for sometime now and in a remission of sorts for longer. I don't worry unless the stools are different for more than a day or two depending what's going on. Love Oma

I'm no expert

Hi Carrie:

I was told by my Dr. that floaters sometimes happen when you are dehydrated. How has your fluid intake been?

Just putting my two cents worth in, but I'm certainly no expert.

Hope you're okay - from the replies, it looks like nothing to worry about, but maybe an idea to talk to your Dr. if it continues?

Mike, you're priceless.

Love - Momster
