It made me sick. At first I just thought it was just making me worse, D wise. Then I started having stomach pain. I think it was gas because I could take Gas-X and it would help some. It was so painful. I was only on the Welchol for a week and called the Dr. yesterday. Of course I had to leave a message but he did call me back today. He recommends taking 8 immodium a day and see if that works because the only thing left (I have tried every thing) is opioid drugs to control the D. I am only eating meats, potatoes, rice, very well cooked veggies, and maybe a banana. I have tried no bananas and couldn't tell the difference. I drink only water. I am really getting tired of this diet. For some reason it is not working for me. I really don't know how Tex, Polly and others stayed on such a ridiculous diet. I am doing it though. Just frustrated and venting!!! Ok, I just remembered I have had some cooked buckwheat cereal and some Quinoa flake cooked cereal. Could there be a problem with those? They are so bland.
Pat
Welchol didn't work either.

Pat,
Bummer! You gave it a fair try, though.
As far as I am aware, both buckwheat and quinoa have very low allergenicity, because of their paleo status, so they should be ok for virtually anyone.

I apologize for chuckling when I read that, because I definitely do see your point - I used to crave variety, too. These days, though, I'm the sort of guy who can eat the same things every day, and even every meal, for that matter, and never give it a second thought. In fact, most of the time, I still eat basically the same things that I ate while I was healing, though I do eat a little variety, now and then. I guess I'm just not much of a gourmet.Pat wrote:I really don't know how Tex, Polly and others stayed on such a ridiculous diet.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
