Howdy Family>>>>ell we did not go to work today. Roads were Icy and Niether of us wants to risk our lives or possibly have a nasty wreck. Even the Fields had Ice On them. Tree limb were breaking. Mike said to me that we were not going to work, Now there is freezing rain coming down.

Tex or Brenda do you guys have the same there?

Here in Ohio, no ice, but we're supposed to get between a foot to seventeen inches of snow in the next 20 hours!!!!!!!
I've seen where parts of Texas had the ice storms.

Hi Oma,

The front blew in later here, so the temperature has just dipped below freezing in the last hour or so. It's 30 degrees now, and headed down. Right now, there's not much precip falling, but that's about to change, according to the radar. I suspect that we'll all have a pretty good coating of ice to deal with in the morning. I hope the power stays on. It looks like this band of freezing rain goes from West Texas all the way to the Atlantic.

Hey Dee,

I was wondering if y'all might be snowed in up there. I'm kinda surprised that you didn't get any freezing rain, but then, it's probably too cold to rain there.

I thought that spring was arriving here a few days ago - the doves were cooing, and the temps were in the 80s, but I guess I was wrong.

Very odd weather pattern all over.
Hope you Texans don't lose power from the ice.
That has happened here a few times when we had the heavy ice storms.
Temps are too cold Tex, so just heavy snow here.

Down here in Deep South Texas, we are still in the 70's!!

However, a cold front is expected to come through in about an hour. The 10:00 news tonight said that about an hr's drive away from here was reporting 45 degrees, and we were reporting 72 degrees!

When I got off work, it was still in the 80's, so the grandsons and I took a short swim! Our outdoor pool is heated in the winter, but when the air temp is too cool, we still avoid it. Today was absolutely beautiful, though. Don't think we'll be doing that tomorrow, so had to take advantage when we could!

They are not telling us to brace for freezing, but for upper 30's, low 40's. That's cold for us, though I grew up in Iowa and this still feels great!

Well, gotta get to bed before I get cold!

well up here in north texas (north of dallas) we are completely frozen. school was out tuesday and will be closed on wednesday too. the kids are thrilled. herb lady, where is winters? my name is jill and i'm new here.

Morning All,

Well we got 4" of snow overnight and now it is freezing rain and sleet and the roads are a mess and all schools are closed. What a long massive storm. Stay warm and hope the power holds out for everyone.

Our power hasn't gone out since we bought a small generator a few years ago. I hope our luck continues to hold.

That reminds me, I need to tell DH to power it up because he hasn't in a long time.

You can click on Oma's "Phoogle Map" button at the bottom of her post, to see where Winters is. (It's between Abeline and San Angelo).

We wound up with nearly a half inch of ice on everything this morning, but most of it has melted by now, because we're having a nice, sunny day, today. All we had was freezing rain - no snow or sleet, so I guess the cold air layer was pretty thin, down here, though the temp was down in the mid-20s for most of the night. I couldn't open the door on my Bronco this morning, due to all the ice, so I decided I didn't really need to go anywhere, anyway.

It's thawed out now, though, so I guess I'd better make the rounds, and check out everything.

I hope everyone else comes out OK.

We have ice, too, and it won't melt til at least Sunday when the weather may go above freezing. We have layers: 4" snow, 1/2" ice, 3" snow. Everything was closed today but we're heading out tonight. If we can get out of the driveway, that is.
