Common Food Intolerances
Almost any food can be a potential problem. However, we have found that by far the most common intolerance for MCers is gluten. The second most common intolerance is dairy, which requires that all sources of milk protein be eliminated. Unfortunately, that means no cheese, ice cream, yogurt, butter, milk, etc. Soy appears to be the third most common intolerance. Quite a few have problems with chocolate, although for some it is because they have a soy intolerance and cannot tolerate the soy lecithin used in most chocolates.

Welcome Janie!!!
Yes, I miss my homemade eclairs. I have great memories, though. There is a lot of information on this board, and also a wonderful group of people who understand why you're here. Please don't hesitate to ask a question. We'll do our best to help you.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
A warm from me too, Janie Bee!
When you have a chance, I'd love to hear more about your issues. Have you found other intolerances besides the gluten?
If I found out I had one day to live, I would eat a grilled cheese sandwich and wash it down with a vanilla milkshake. And eat a whole Carvel ice cream cake for dessert. YUM.
Love,
Polly

OK Joan! What's it gonna be, in addition to chocolate? LOL!
You know, I have been tempted to just skip that swamp water cleanout before colonoscopy, and instead, spend a few days just pigging out on all of my intolerances. It would be such a pleasant way to do the prep, don't you think? HAHAHAHA.

I did that!!!
They said to eat low fibre stuff for a couple of days beforehand, like yoghurt and stewed apples and white bread. So I did. Mmm butter. Cheese. Greek yoghurt. drool.
Then when I took the horrible drink, yes I had a couple of BMs, but it was really a pretty minor matter since I was mostly clean. The doc commented on the high quality of the bowel preparation! lol!!!

Lyn!
You actually did it? That's cool! I am supposed to have another colonoscopy next week but I think I will postpone it for a mo. or two. Am just not in the mood for it. I will seriously consider doing a "natural" cleanout using my intolerances. Good to know that it works!

Polly,
How does one "get in the mood" for a colonoscopy? It never occurred to me that was even possible.
I know what you mean though. It's always borderline intolerable, at best, and there are certainly times when it's more intolerable than at other times. Also, as a professional procrastinator, I'm always happy to see others enjoying the benefits of the "sport".

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Tex,
I guess it did sound kinda funny to say I wasn't in the mood. Whoever IS????? HAHAHA. I was supposed to go in Jan. and I rescheduled for Feb. Then yesterday I cancelled until the end of March. It's really inconvenient just now. Next weekend I'm going away with some girlfriends, and I didn't want to be all wiped out (pun intended) from the procedure.
Lyn,
For my first 2 colonoscopies I was having diarrhea, and I think it was a blessing. Because...........both times I was completely cleaned out after drinking only 1/3 to 1/2 of the Nu-Lytely. So, I really think there is something to this.
