I just got something in a newsletter. Said it was as good as rx stuff. It started with an M but wasn't Metamucil, I don't believe. I told DB (plagued by C for over 10 years) so I'll call him when I get back from my ultrsound. Hopefully, he'll remember.

Hi Jill,

I have no idea if this is what Joan is referring to, but I suggest you try magnesium oxide. Some brand names are: Mag-200, Mag-Ox 400, MagGel, Uro-Mag, and Phillips' Cramp-free, for example. Many of us are probably short of magnesium, anyway, after we've been reacting for a while, and I know that some of us take magnesium supplements for that reason. Magnesium oxide is also used to treat acid indigestion and upset stomach, and in addition, it will provide the added benefit of helping your body to absorb calcium. Osteopenia and/or Osteoporosis are very common problems for anyone who is sensitive to either gluten or casein, so anything we can do to increase calcium absorption is definitely a plus.

The usual adult oral dose for Constipation, is 2 to 4, 500 mg caplets daily, with a full 8 ounce glass of water, or other suitable liquid. They may be taken all at bedtime, or separately throughout the day. If you happen to be taking a tetracycline antibiotic of any type, or any fluoroquinolone antibiotic, (such as Cipro), or any digoxin, or nitrofurantoin, check with your doctor first, since the dosage might need to be adjusted, in some cases.

I believe what Joan is talking about is MiraLax and is sold over the counter.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Joan..

That is what I was thinking Dee. I had to use MiraLax (not that I needed it) to prep for my colonoscopy.
