lovely swan
do you think this means I shouldn't be here?
my favorite story Jonathan Livingston Seagull, I always seem to get a gull in a photo even when I'm not trying to. Gull in foreground, snow geese in background.

mine sweeper? dunno, this small vessel has been here for as long as I remember. I have seen vagabonds living aboard, even saw goats on it a few years back.

Beautiful photos.
Here's where we are going in a few weeks. We're meeting one of DH's classmates from OH at the gulf. It will be fun to share the bird banding with them. We went years and years ago. I saw my first painted bunting. They gave the Grosbeaks pacifiers.

I am jealous. What a great place to spend time doing what you love. I'll have to dig out some of my hummer photo's. I have 10 feeding stations set around the house, our yard is a hummer highway. The painted bunting is stunning, I hope to see one in person someday.JLH wrote:Beautiful photos.

It was pretty exciting for us to see the painted buntings.....We never even knew they existed until we saw them.
It all is very interesting. They have vertical nets set up to catch the birds as they come ashore from migration. People go around and collect the birds caught and put them in little sacks and take them to the banding tent. There they are banded and weighed and recorded. Then they release them. They let the audience members hold and release them if they want to do so.
Did you look at the PDFs for all the birds they caught last spring and fall?
