Sample menu for those in remisison

Post by ronipow »

Though I'd make this a new post.

All those in remission give us a sample diet. I think it would be helpful to the newbies.

I suppose we can collect this stuff and put it in an "information" room later.

Here's my current diet:

Meat--Pork,Chicken, Fish, rarely Turkey, and Beef
Potatoes
Eggs
Rice--usually as flour for breading, or for baking chocolate chip cookies
Chocolate chips for the cookies
Water
Virgils Root Beer
Tea

Roni,

For me, it's virtually anything on the caveman diet. I can tolerate some things in addition, like rice and potatoes, but I really feel best if I eat no grains at all. Oh, and Virgil's root beer, too.

tex,

even after two years you still don't eat vegetables. What are your creatin levels like. Are you processing all of that meat. Not even any fruit?

Roni,

Yep, I can eat anything that's listed on the paleo diet - meat/fowl/seafood/ veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, eggs. I use pure maple syrup or honey for sweeteners. I make muffins using the SCD (specific carbohydrate diet) recipe, which uses almond flour, honey, eggs, and fruit juice (and nuts/blueberries or whatever else you want to add).

Hi Roni,

You are getting a little bit of a scewed view because so many responses are from people with multiple intolerances - count me in LOL!

I eat mostly Paleo but not exclusively. I sometimes add a little rice and occasionally a little potato. I also indulge in Enjoy Life No-Oatmeal Oatmeal cookies - they are not paleo.

I eat meat at every meal; mostly beef, pork, lamb; very little turkey, chicken, salmon. I often grill the meat in a skillet and add some vegetables toward the end. Only spices are slt/pep - I like Muir Glen Ketchup as a Steak Sauce. I've found a trigger free source for Hot Italian Sausage and enjoy it very much. Once a week - perhaps twice I have a salad with dressing that I make from extra virgin olive oil, walnut oil, Alessi white balsamic vinegar, slt, pep, garlic.

I eat eggs almost every day - I like them scrambled, sunny side up, boiled, or raw in a fruit smoothie.

I make beef jerky (slt/pep for spice/flavor) in a food dehydrator that I bought at Walmart. This is an easy snack food - something I can toss in my pocket book and eat while out and about.

I drink tea and decaf coffee and water.

I always have dried fruit and nuts available for snacks - I buy them at HF store, they have them w/o added sugar and/or other preservatives. I love Newman Owns Prunes. Almonds and walnuts are my favorite nuts.

I also eat fresh fruit every day. I tolerate all fresh fruit.

Love,
Karen

Hi Roni,
I think you want diets from people in total remission. I am, kinda of, but it's a really shakey remission. Any little slip puts me right back to square one. But, here goes, just in case this helps:

For total remission: Paleo-lowcarb-grainfree-gf-df-eggsonlyincookedfoods-minimalsoy-methylB12 (with some potatoes: the exception)

For almost remission: lowcarb-gf-df-eggsincookedfoodsonly-ricefree-B12-potatoes

For all-out flare: #1,2,3Dairy #4Rice #5Beans #5Beer #7Wheat #8Eggs #9B vitamins #10Vit E,C #11sorbitol,mannitol,splenda

Helpful things: Caltrate 600Plus

Marsha,

Are you saying that your vitimins C and E cause a flare for you?

Dear Roni,

OOOOhhhh yeah. Big time. The only vitamins I've been able to take are really the minerals - calcium, magnesium (a type that doesn't cause D-let me know if you want info) and potassium. And a B12 lozenge.

Soy might be a bigger problem for me than I thought, because I just read that Vit E is not only wheat derived, but may be soy or both.

Does anybody know exactly what the gel caps that vit E and A are made of? Tex, help!

Love, Marsha

Hi Roni,

I don't take any vitamin supplements either - but I do have some in storage (the left overs!!) - I am afraid they will cause D. You can get vitamins that are free of most allergens from www.freedavitamins.com

Karen,

How long has your path been to remission? Did you start out aggresive right from the begining? Or was it a slow process, no GF, then DF etc, etc.?
