Hi Cavedwellers!
Just had to mention this dessert, since desserts are almost unheard of on the paleo diet. It is based on the fruit crumble recipe posted on Elizabeth's blog. I think Matthew modified it over the holidays using apples and it was a big hit.
I made this last night using fresh blueberries and canned apricots. Mixed 'em together in a small casserole dish (also threw in some raisins) and added a little of the apricot juice (actually was pear juice). Ground up about a cup's worth of nuts (almonds and walnuts) in the blender and mixed in some cinnamon. (If you like "sweet" add some sugar too). Pressed the nut mixture on top of the fruit. Then baked it for 40 min. at 350 degrees, removing the foil cover for the last 15-20 min.
It tasted like blueberry pie! I'll bet a scoop of Sharon's coconut sorbet on top would be awesome! It's so easy and also good reheated for breakfast the next day. And there are innumerable fruit combinations that can be used.
Love,
Polly

Wow! Does that ever sound fantastic.
I love hearing about treats that don’t have lots of added sugar and fresh or frozen fruit is so good . I have tried a lot of combinations like yours and it is hard to go wrong. Some combination of nuts and I usually use a few dates for sweetness instead of sugar , chopped in a food processor, with cinnamon is so easy for a topping . It might make me think I was normal Hahahah!
Last saturday I had a couple of friends over for a barbecue since the temperatures were in the seventies. For an after dinner treat I made Wayne’s famous frozen bananas with Dee’s carmel sauce, warm, drizzled over the top. Fantastic!
I always love hearing about good ideas from my kitchen buddies!

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for reminding us about that sauce.....it is awesome, isn't it? The first time I had it a friend drizzled it over some poached pears.
I like to keep a jar of it in the firdge and add a teaspoonful to a bowl of mixed fruit. It really jazzes it up and makes me feel like I'm eating a gourmet treat. Why, It almost makes me feel normal, as you say! LOL!
