Hi Guys...
well I had to put my beautiful cocker spaniel to sleep last week..today I got her ashes back and I also got my colitis back. I think the last 2 weeks of gut wrenching crying, and mourning has brought on my colitis..is this possible?? should I start to take belladonna again for it? My DR put me on a low dose lorazapam to get me through the grieve a little easier, but I have been so upset everday just mourning and missing her..
any thoughts?? my diet hasnt changed so now Im at a loss as to what to do...I know I need to calm down, Im sure that would help...

So sorry for your loss. We had to have our golden put down in Jan. It really is hard to give up those special friends. We still have her son but he is almost 10. We know that some day we will have to go through that loss and it is so hard to think of that.
I think anything is possible with MC. Sorry you have that again. Hope it doesn't last long.

Sorry to hear about your beloved friend and companion. All of us know "all too well" just how close our pets are to us and how we consider them more "family" than a "pet". Your loss is just as if you had lost a close family member and I'm almost certain that this flare you are experiencing at this time is because of your grief. It's going to take time for you to deal with your loss so my advice is just take it "One Day At A Time" and do the best you can. There is NO set time table for "grieving" the lost of your pet. Most of us here would love to take some of your pain away to make things so much easier for you yet we know this is something we can not do. You loved your companion/family member and it's not something you're just going to beable to turn your feelings off about.
I know what it's like to have a lost a dog whom I loved dearly and I also feel that the poem: Rainbow Bridge brought me great comfort when I lost my Blackie. If you get the chance to search for that poem you to I am sure will find comfort knowing that when the time comes when you both can be together again that she will be waiting for you when you cross "Rainbow Bridge" and the two of you will cross over together as she will be waiting for you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

thank you for your comforting words...I had joined petloss.com and it has been Godsend..I think all my grieving and upset is causing my MC. Im sorry for your loss, it looks like from what you wrote you had a close pup to who was dear to you.. Rosie was my "soul dog" there was just no other way to describe it..for almost 13 wonderful years..you go from caring for them almost full time, to nothing and its quite a change..I know she is at rainbow bridge and will wait for me...the support here and on pet loss is amazing, I couldnt ask for better friends..

I'm also very sorry to hear of your loss, and the return of your MC symptoms. Most authorities claim that while stress can make the symptoms of MC worse, it can't actually trigger a reaction. I believe they underestimate the influence of extreme stress, though, and they are wrong. You're not the first one here to have that happen, unfortunately.
As to what is the best plan of action, usually, when the cause of a flare is removed, the symptoms will slowly go away, so hopefully the lorazepam will quickly lower your stress level, and the symptoms will soon settle down, again. I'm assuming that you just started taking the lorazepam. It's a very powerful drug, and it usually works quickly. If you have already been taking it for a few days, without improvement, that's not a good sign, because it has a relatively high addictive potential, so you may not be able to safely take it for an extended period. If that's the case, you might need to take some action to control the MC flare. I know virtually nothing about the use of belladonna, though, as far as it's effects on MC, might be.

I am so sorry for the loss of your family "member" - and I am sure you know they are really family. You joined a great site for support on your loss and I think most of us have been in your shoes at one time or another. The grief and anxiety surely can affect your MC in my opinion.
She will be at Rainbow Bridge waiting for you.

you are all by far the sweetest people...thank you for your support and your kind words about my Rosie. Im trying to regroup my thoughts and channel my energy into something positive...I miss her so much and the void in my life is so big without her, but I have to look at what I do have...a family and a 14 year old himalayan with diabetes... lol
my symptoms of MC are in full force these last 2 days, and the lorazapam isnt doing much to help, its a low dose of 0.5 mg.. I may just take 2 for a couple days to settle it down. My dr also had me on 400mg of advil for a muscle tear, and she said if I flare up to stop right away..not sure that may have aggravated things to..along with the stress of grief.
