Well, all, it is the :boobs: lady !
Just wanted to let you all know that I went to the doc today - and he aspirated the cysts - there were two of them in the same boob - ouch !
Anyway, it was the same kind of stuff that was in the last one, I won't gross you out with the details !
I am good though! I gotta run, but will post more later - by the way - the gyno doesn't think my anemia is from my periods - my hemoglobin was 10.5 this time - lower, as was my hematocrit - 35.
Any ideas ? I am taking iron everyday, by the way.

Good news Boob lady!
I bet that's a load off of your mind!

Hi Peanut,
Have you ever tried some of the ideas for boosting iron absorption that are suggested on this site?

Actually, your readings aren't all that bad, (considering that you have pernicious anemia). Is your ferritin level ok?

IRON Info~~~~
Tex----that was a great article to read----
As I posted before, I am not below levels but Kozin put me on iron supplements---which gave me *D*----instead of blocking me up!!!
So I went to pharmacy and bought a timed released Iron tablet--
It does the same-----so I broke it in 1/2 and take it that way---am&pm~~~probably not benefiting from the iron taking it that way~~~~
This is an issue that Kozin and I will have to discuss----
I have had enuf of pills
Appreciate the articles that U list---
Have a good

Mrs. Columbo,
Actually, dividing the iron into two or more doses, instead of taking it all at once, should help you to absorb MORE of it. I'm not sure how that will work with a timed release tablet, but I'll bet it will work just fine that way, too.

Galahad

Wayne,
Hi ! I will check out that site ~ I have not had a ferritin level checked ~ however, my serum iron is at 11 ~ should ideally be around 50 ~ and my hemoglobin has gone from 12 two months ago to 10.5 now. Who knows ? The one thing I do know is that this is beginning to be really frustrating ! My worry is that my iron is not going to improve, and the hemoglobin is going to keep getting worse, and then I will end up sick again. And, I am sick and tired of being sick and tired !
My gyno yesterday said he wants me to think about getting the depo-provera injections ~ I don't know if I want to do that or not, I am doing a little research on the net ~ he (gyno) says that if the anemia is from my periods, that the depo should make them stop, and the anemia should get better. I would appreciate any opinions on that issue, too.
And, Wayne, I agree that the iron def. anemia is probably exacerbated by the pernicious anemia, and also, the celiac ~ you know ~ malabsorption ~ sometimes I want to tell my doc, "well, duh, of course I am having malabsorption problems" ~ with celiac ~ that is one of the complications, anyway, I don't know what to do anymore ~ the one thing I do know is that I am getting very frustrated !
Thanks for listening to me whine !
Love,
Carla

Carla,
If you have heavy periods, yes the iron deficiency could be related. I just went through a cycle from hell a month ago and after 2 weeks of "normal" for me flow, which others might consider heavy, I almost bled to death with insanely heavy flow. However, for reference (assuming I was close to "normal" levels of hemoglobin before this all happened) after the two weeks of normal and then 4 hours having to change the pad every 20 minutes, then another 14 hours at 20 minutes a day later, I'd dropped to 10.6. Then after 12 hours or so at every 2 hours, then back up to every half hour for 4-5 hours, I'd dropped to 8.something. So as you can see, it really takes either continuous, or a LOT of flow to drop too much.
As for the Provera, I didn't do the shots but did take the daily pills. It never stopped my period, in fact made me more irregular. And if you have anything like fibroids, it can make those grow (possible cause of my recent problems). Also, if he plans on using a 3 month shot, see if it is available in 1 month shots at first so if you react or don't like how you feel on it, you can get off it much quicker.
Have you had a fecal blood check?
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey !
Oma, yeah, that's me, the boob lady !
Katy,
I never thought my periods were "too heavy" - I have never had that kind of problem, the most I ever "have" to change my pad is at the most is once every two hours - and that is generally on the first day, and not for very long. So, I guess I was right, they aren't too heavy !
