I lease a property for hunting with 3 friends of mine, it is part of an old Spanish Land Grant. Joaquin Murrietta's hideout is purpotedly nearby, and Jedediah S. Smith surely hunted grizzly bears in these parts in the 1850's. If your industrious and up for a long long hike there are some petroglyphs dating back several thousand years on the other side of the ridge. I hunt deer, turkey, wild boar, cottontales, coyote, and quail here....the bears are all gone now. There is a small population of the very shy and very endangered San Joaquin Kit Fox, they're about the size of a house cat and climb almost as well. I went up with a friend last week to set out mineral/salt blocks, clear the weeds from the springs, and set some game/trail camera's out.

Looks like a promising setup, and a great place to relax. I'd have to make that hike a time or two, for sure, if I were there.
Is that a young blacktail buck?
Thanks,
Tex

Yes it is. I counted 18 deer while we were there, 4 bucks and the rest does or does with fawns. Of course that all changes come opening day.tex wrote:Looks like a promising setup, and a great place to relax. I'd have to make that hike a time or two, for sure, if I were there.

Dan,
You probably think I'm blind, but for some reason or other, my browser wasn't showing me some of your captions last night, and the one on the buck was one that wasn't displayed, so that's why I asked about it. I wondered why some of them had captions, but a few didn't. LOL. This morning, they're all there.
Anyway, thanks for the confirmation.

Ahh, I have confused you. These pictures are not my cabin, this is land that I lease (1000 acres) just about 20 miles from my shop in Livermore Ca. My cabin is 4 hours north outside of Chester Ca. This is a picture of my cabin. It sits on just over 100 acres.starfire wrote:Thanks so much for posting these!! What a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place. I hope you and your wife spend many, many wonderful days there.

The old hunting cabin (3rd pic down from the top), well lets just say my wife would never step foot inside it. Myself and 3 others lease the land to hunt on, sometimes I take customers there to hunt quail and turkey.

OK, sorry............... My fault!! The cabin is beautiful. I should have looked back through some of your earlier posts and I'll bet I'd have realized my thinking was "off track". I was thinking that the views seemed different from some I'd seen before but I didn't try to check it out (can I blame that on this computer). I really hate to go anywhere with it that doesn't seem necessary - HaHa.
