Beyond belief--what neuros didnt check Kait for!!!!!!

Post by barbaranoela »

After all the years that Kait has fallen apart due to *a neuro-*saying she doesnt need a shunt*all the surgeries that failed---and wounds continuously openeing up---DIDNT ANYONE of these SPECIALIST (instead of just saying her immune system is shot) FIND OUT WHY?????????

Well the doctor who implanted that gadget --to help Kait control her pain and is planning to give it another TRY--asked Lynn if an *INFECTIOUS DISEASE Dr. ever checked Kait's system looking for the *WHY* Kait went thru all these issues!!! NO!!!! *assuming the doctors KNEW and did check--
Well Lynn took Kaitlyn to see the Infectious Disease Dr. --that dealth with me---
Lynn calls me up so Xcited cus Dr. Rowen took a NOSE SWAB plus BLOOD--and guess what he found---Kait has this STAFF INFECTION that has been happily living thru her system????? and he just couldnt believe that it wasnt detected---
If U all remember--when surgery done in the hospital Kait was put into a closed cubicle for healing--forget the terminology for it--

Anyway Dr. Rowen saw Kait again--did the same swab and blood and told Lynn that she has to have 3 NEGATIVE readings before they try reinserting that gear to releave her pain!! He has Kait on meds.

Now the neuros wanted to do it next week--saying it would be OK---^&*&^%$*!!!--is what I say!!!
Dr. Rowen says NO WAY!!!!

I just cant believe all this--*so whatness*

 Well, you see, those guys are highy trained specialists, so they're too "intelligent" to be expected to know anything about common things, such as infections.

That was a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, wasn't it?

I hope they can get it right this time.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It's unbelievable (and very sad) what Kait has had to endure due to the incompetence of the medical profession.

Wow... I nearly died of a staph infection in 2001.. Those are VERY VERY VERY serious. I hope things continue to improve for her!

Interesting, Sisbarb.

I'm not surprised about finding staph in the nose - it's not unusual or lifethreatening. Most of us have staph colonized all over our bodies. However, staph actually in the blood (staph septicimia) is a serious, lifethreatening disease that progresses rapidly. If Kait did have staph in her blood, I would expect her to be critically ill and hospitalized. Is she?

If not, then the positive staph blood test may have been due to contamination. IOW some staph bacteria from the environment found their way onto the culture plate when the lab assts. were performing the test. If Kait is not desperately sick, then I would suspect contamination. The only other possibilities I can think of are that the blood test was done at the very beginning of septicemia or that the culture was taken from somewhere else, like the implant site. It would not surprise me at all if the implant site were infected with staph. But I think it would be nearly impossible for someone to walk around for weeks (or even days) with a staph BLOOD infection.

Love,

Polly

Sure hope the new doc's can get it all sorted out, Barbara. Poor Kait has been through enough already.

I just can't believe the medical community and Kait. She cannot catch a break and it is so hurting her and the family. She is always in my prayers and just can't wait one day to hear that all is fine with her.
