Someone please kill me..
On Tuesday, I ate a salad at Culvers - taco salad, with a supposed corn shell. I had a few bites of the "corn" before realizing it probably contained flour because it tasted funny.. so I stopped eating it. Later found on their website it contained both flour AND soy.
So last night I started feeling it. HORRIBLE pain. Felt like my entire abdomen and back were on fire. I could not get comfortable to sleep or sit or stand or anything at all. The only comfortable position was to crouch down and put my head next to my knees on the floor. I tried to puke so many times but no results. Puking usually ends the anguish.
3 hours AFTER the tylenol 3, I was in more pain than I think I've EVER BEEN in my entire life, including 3 childbirths. I did NOT want to go to the ER at this point because it was late and I had to work today.
Anyway, eventually I curled up with my heating pad (first time I've used it since before the gall bladder surgery!) and went to sleep at some point.. don't know when. Kept waking up in all this pain. Was so happy to get out of bed this morning cuz I couldn't stand the pain any longer.
It's somewhat better today... more tolerable I guess, which is good since I'm at work. But it's still THERE. I can feel it slowly working it's way down. My legs are starting to hurt now, so hopefully it'll be out of my system soon..

Good Lord, woman, and you're at work???? You are stronger than I, that's for sure. I would have been hiding in the closet at home, moaning and whining.
I am sorry for the pain. When you said "taco salad" I knew it was going to be bad. I didn't think it would be THAT bad, though. I hope that you feel better soon and we won't do that again. None of us!!
Lots of love,
Sally

Awwww Christine! I sure hope you get over this SOON!
I feel so bad that you are in such pain, especially when you had to go into work.
Here's a hug - Take care of yourself!

All,
Thanks for the well-wishes..
I've had really good results with taco salads in the past. A bit of chili, some corn chips, and it's to die for. I guess this one bit me in the butt tho. fortunately, Culvers' website is very well documented and has an allergy chart :)
Anyway, yes, I'm at work. I have no PTO so if I'm out one day, I have to make up for it in missed lunches and overtime.

Awwww, Christine,
I hope you finish most of that reaction today. That's really the pits, especially since you thought you were eating something safe. It's bad enough to get sick when you know you shouldn't be eating something.
You're really sensitive to that stuff, for it to affect you so severely. Hopefully, it won't be very significant by tomorrow, and by Monday, I hope you'll be as good as new.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Christine,
I hope you are feeling a bit better and I also had the same reaction when I saw taco sald - Pain and D - would be immediate for me. One thing to try and avoid when out is anything that contains spices of unknown origin. They can easily have flour in them.
Feel Better
Just had to use the new butterfly

Maggie,
Your butterfly is beautiful :)
I did find ONE taco salad that I can tolerate, I guess. Unfortunately for you guys, it's a VERY local Waconia, MN restaurant called D'Vinci's and it's probably the ONLY thing on the menu I can have, since this is an italian/pizza joint. They make everything from scratch including pizza crust, so that might explain why I didn't react to that very similar taco salad, but I did to culver's. Well, that and Culvers' salad admittedly has gluten and soy LOL.
Wayne,
Thanks.. I'm feeling slightly better but every time I eat anything, I get immediate sharp pains. It'll take a few days to get out of this one... :( Oh well, I should have paid more attention. That'll teach me..

Sally,
I'm way better than I was the day I wrote that originally.. *whew*. but I'm still not out of the woods.. every time I eat, still, I get a tummy ache for awhile after, which is how it behaved awhile back.. My legs ache too. I'd imagine it'll take awhile to clear from my system. I guess the good thing is that it gives me that *painless* state to look forward to, now that I know it exists..
