Oklahoma C. diff Patient Has Fecal Transplant
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I am very interested in this treatment. Some researchers in England theorize that there is something different about "normal" good gut bacteria - that it is effective because it has passed through another human GI tract (our mother's) and has become sensitized somehow. Once we lose this good bacteria (thru colitis), we cannot replace it permanently. This is why probiotics must be taken continuously - they don't take hold because they are not sensitized. The England research group is trying to make probiotics that have passed thru a human gut first. That would be a lot easier to take than a colonoscopy!
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
