Hi All,
An article just released, describing a research project in Canada, shows that the immune system of half the people in the study, (who had type I diabetes), generate T-cells against gluten. That's a pretty strong correlation, to say the least.

Half The People With Type I Diabetes Are Sensitive To Gluten
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

That is a really interesting study. I have a friend who is a type 1 diabetic and I really wish he'd get tested for gluten sensitivity. Even more so now. It is amazing though how you start telling people what you know about gluten and their eyes just glaze over and they automatically get this "no way, not ME" attitude. It is unbelievable, especially when their symptoms are obvious.
NMM,
I've never had any luck convincing anyone to get tested, either. As you say, they're always sure that gluten couldn't be affecting them, because they would have noticed, if it were a problem. Yeah, sure. Like they're more alert than all the other millions of people who are gluten sensitive, and don't realize it.
