Took a good fall..
and with Kylee in my arms. I was getting ready to give Kylee a bath and heard her Mom out front. So I opened the bathroom window and stepped in the tub to let Kylee look out to see Mom. The slip resistant mat slipped and down we went.
Its amazing how your mind only focuses on protecting the baby. She checked out OK but it scared her and she screamed like crazy. I felt terrible and was she ever mad at me!
I can hardly move today. I have a huge ugly bruise on my hip and a bigger one on my thigh. Geez, I can sure be a dummy!
Getting rid of that slip resistant mat for sure!
Hugs,
Lori

Oh, dear!!!
A fall like that can happen so easily - just a second of your attention being diverted and down you can go - hope you feel better and Kylee forgives you quickly. It's neat how instinct kicks in to protect the child, isn't it? Probably even made it worse for yourself to cushion her.
I used to have an instant reaction when my kids were little to put my arm out in front of them when the car was being braked. Probably would still do it.
Anyway, rest today and feel better.

Do something nice for you today
Oh, dear, Lori. I'm glad to hear that Kylee is ok, but how are you? Like Momster days, sometimes we protect our babies at our own cost.
I have slipped in my shower, too. So whenever I get in I stomp on the mat first before I step completely in. It helps to run water on it, too. However, I do NOT step in the tub to look out the window!! I don't have a window there.
Slip resistant mats, my foot!!!
Lots of love,
Sally

Wow Lori, I am so glad you are both ok! It's scary to think what COULD have happened!
Take care - I hope the soreness goes away soon! Take care of yourself!

Lori, I am glad you only ended up with some bruises, and that little Kylee was okay too. I know what you mean about instinct kicking in to above all else protect the child. When Mel was little, (well she still is independent) she would not let anyone help her do anything, nada, nothing. So when we joined Amanda's class for their trip to the skating rink, she was only 3, and had never skated before, and was all set to try her new skates. Amanda was in grade 2, and all the girls wanted to help Mel learn to skate, which only made her mad, and she finally told me to tell those kids to stop holding her hand. She would skate, skate, skate then fall. Get up and do it again. I was skating near, and no way was I allowed to help when she fell. But she didn't know how to stop except to fall, and then of course there was the wall. Which she hit and this time she did start to cry, and I skated to her to help, because when crying was involved I could help, but at the same time I forgot I was also on skates and picked her up. ( she only weighed about 30 lbs then) Of course too it was too late when I realised that picking he up was going to throw me off balance on my skates, and we started to go down right away. All I could think about was my skates not touching her and her skates not cutting her as well, so I held her tight, and put my left hand out behind us to catch the fall. DUH, I did not think at all about her weight as well as mine putting pressure on that left arm. She was okay though, but I felt like I was going to throw up, and that arm was hurting allot. But I still had a duty to help take skates off of about 30 grade 2's, which I did, with my right hand. I then had to carry all our skates, and then Mel part of the way home, as I did not drive back then. I just about passed out when I went to take off my coat, I was really bruised and my arm and elbow had swollen up. Nothing was broken, worse I had pulled all the ligiments and tendons severely and it took about a year for them to heal. I also had to sleep sitting up for several weeks while the main problems healed. Mel continued to never let me help her when she fell, (tears excluded) but I did learn a big lesson.
I hope that your bruises heal up quickly, and that you did throw that NONE SLIP mat out. It could have been allot worse for you both. Thank Goodness it wasn't.

Lori,
Falls are wicked, aren't they? Especially when holding a little one. I'm relieved that both of you are OK. I figure you must feel the worst today - 2 days later is when it feels as if you were hit by a Mack truck, in my experience. Are you all black and blue....or green and yellow? Take care.
Love,
Polly
