Interesting, Tex. About 3 years ago I had a cracked tooth, a piece broke of and I had both a root canal and crown. Even with insurance, it cost me about $1200. :broke: I can't really say that it was closely associated with my severe digestive symptoms, which started about 4 months ago. This was my second root canal, with the first one about 8 years ago, before the onset on any symptoms.

My very first digestive problems occurred about 6 years ago when I thought that I had developed lactose intolerance. The symptoms weren't nearly as severe as what happened 4 months ago. I began to notice them several months after one of the worst stomach bugs I've ever experienced. I got so dehydrated I passed out and ended up at Urgent Care for IV fluids. So the correlation of an infection with the onset of MC symptoms seems to hold up for me.

That was a pretty rough MC episode, to say the least.

Thanks for the insight into the dental work timeframe.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Very interesting poll. I've had chronic dental issues since my teenage years. 4 root canals/crowns and multiple fillings to date (currently 34 years old). My issues resolved once I started wearing a night guard. Apparently I grind my teeth at night and create hairline fissures in the enamel which collect bacteria and become infected. I suspect that the grinding is an effect of food sensitivities (primarily gluten). I notice my jaw tension seems to resolve when I remove problem foods. Anyway, I strongly believe that there's a connection between dental health and overall health. Teeth are very telling...

I lost count of how many root canals and other I've had done (all prior to my MC). I had a dentist that wanted to take the mercury out of my mouth and so proceeded to do so and fill them with that composite material that looks like your teeth.........WELL...........come to find out, I was allergic to something in that composite material, and every tooth he had replaced mercury with composite, I had to have a root canal, and a crown or mercury put back in................it was not a pleasant time in my life!
