My small accident in town this am$%#**&^

Post by annie oakley »

I haven't had a ticket or an accident in...oh I'd say about 16 years or more. I did my laundry, ran all my errand, and thought I'd stop at the last Convience Store before leaving town. I backed up slow straining to see around the bail of hay in my truck bed....used mirrors also.....I felt a bump and emediatly stopped and looked in my left mirror......There's a guy standing there looking at me with his arms in the  Duh what's up stupid mode. So I pull forward and we exchange info. He was a real nice guy,,he understood we were in cramped quarters, which I will never park in again. And needless to say...the bail of hay is missing from my truck bed now! I called The Insurance agent and reported it...Niether of us wanted to call police. It put a pretty good sized dent in his door...so we will see. It was painfully clear that it was my fault. I felt real stupid :banghead: Then when I get home (hubby and I are speaking again) he tells me we can't use the smoker for a few weeks.....He is BBQ'ing in the big pit today...anyway I said why? He said because we have a momma quail setting on a nest in it. :birds: He saw a swam of bee's thinking they were in the smoker since we haven't used it for a few weeks, took the llid off and there she was sitting on a nest with eggs, so we will leave her to do her duty. I let my dogs out in the big yard where her nest is and they haven't bothered her...they only get out there whe we are out there so we can watch them. Have a good day Love Oma

Oma, that's a bummer about the accident! Glad it wasn't any worse and that you're ok!

Neat about the quail - funny she nested there!

Hope your day gets better! Enjoy it.

So sorry for the accident. I have never had one myself, but was in the back seat of the car my ex husband was driving when he hit a deer on the 401 here near Toronto years ago. We woke up pretty quick, and it really shook us up, poor deer didn't have a chance in the busy traffic, it wasn't head on, hit the drivers side. We had a fair amount of damage to that side of the car, and were lucky nothing more happened because of the other traffic around us, instinct tells us to swerve to miss an animal. Our insurance covered it, and under the same deductable as for windshields, so it was only 50.00 at the time. Hope your insurance comes through for you too.

NOBODY HURT!!!! thats GOOD

Post by barbaranoela »

Oma---@ least no-one was hurt---but it can be one big pain (or dent) in the butt---

I got stopped twice for speeding but both times was let go with a warning--
Once when I was going to mail Xmas cards---so I guess the cop had the Xmas spirit and told me *drive a bit slower now* and I
And way back when taking Lynn for orthodontic work---but heck this road is like wide open and U just cant help zippin along!!!!

And then I totaled my Caprice when coming around the corner(from home) a bee flew in and buzzed around ---automatically shut the eyes--hit the gas(by mistake) and took down the guys fence and hit the tree---
That creep never came out to see what all was going around---3 houses down 2 men came out and called 911 and then the cop sat in the car with me---asked what happened---said *Uwont believe me* Yup I will said he------and he DID---he said there are many accidents that happen from a buzzin bee!!!!

Actually the car looked not so bad---but I bent the entire frame :devilangel: and that was *bye-bye* car--
I thought of a :cowboy2: but thought of all the hay and stuff

Gotta alotta car stories I could tell U peoples too~~~~

til later
keep a smile

Hi Oma,

Yeah, those bales are good for traction, but they suck when it comes to visability. At least it wasn't too serious. As flimsy as most cars are built these days, if you back into one while driving a heavy vehicle, you can practically total them out, before you even notice any resistance.

I've noticed more quail this year than I have in a long time. It must be a good year for them. That's interesting that one would nest in a smoker. I don't believe I've ever heard of a bobwhite nesting in a place like that before.

Love,

Wayne...Mike and I were so suprised also that she would nest there...he just came and told me she is off feeding somewhere and without touching he could count somewhere in the neighborhood of a dozen eggs....so we'll leave her alone.

Barbara...that is a funny story about the bee and your accident. It made me laugh...altho at the time I am sure it wasn't funny. You ar so funny sometimes. :talk: Love Oma
