Penguins

Post by Polly »

Evening All!

Just got back from seeing this incredible movie. Everyone MUST go see it. It is awesome, fantastic, beautiful, unbelievable, and mind-blowing.

It's a documentary about a year in the life of the Emperor penguins of Antartica. The photographers were up close and personal with the penguins. Since humans have never hunted penguins, they have no fear of us. Great music, with narration by Morgan Freeman. Talk about reality shows - this is the authentic thing! I was totally engrossed for the full 80 minutes. You will be sorry if you miss this one.

Love,

Polly

I saw an ad for it on TV last night. I've got to see it. I love penguins, too.

Lori, where is it playing?

Lots of love,

Sally

I read a review of this film and it was all you described, Polly. It is on my "Must See" list.

Not only do I collect frogs, I also collect penguins. They are hard to find in my neck of the woods though! During Christmas time it is a little easier to find them.

Thanks for the personal review!

Sally,

Its at Portland Cinema 21, 22nd & Kearney. I checked to see if they had it at Omnimax Imax theater but nope. I think it would be awesome on the giant screen.

Sounds great Polly, we'll have to keep our eyes peeled for it.

Anyone seen Million Dollar Baby? Really good movie but quite a tearjerker. Not one of those Hollywood goody-goody endings. We saw in on DVD Friday night. We watched Flight of the Phoenix, too, and it definetly had the run-o-the-mill Hollywood ending :???:

I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm almost afraid to - I love those little fellas so much I usually get all teared up when I see some on TV, and since the ad to the movie did me in, as well as the website for it, I know I'm going to be a blubbering fool seeing the movie. I will wait til it's out on DVD and watch it from the privacy of my own home. I've always loved penguins, but reading about what they go through to mate and raise a baby is mind-boggling, and I have more love and respect for them than ever before. Of course, I want one for a pet, as soon as I can figure out how to build an environment that's conducive to them!

Thanks for the two thumbs up, Polly!

Is this a movie my grandchilren (ages 5, 7 and 9) might enjoy? I leave for upstate NY in a few minutes to meet them and bring them home for a week with Grandma and Grandpa. Looking for ideas!

I haven't gone to the theatre since I saw Chicago with Mel and April in Edmonton over two years ago. Without a car the options are really limited. But Mel and Bethy want me to go with them sometime, just have to wait till Mel is finished working at the garden center, as her twelve hour days, six days a week don't allow for any time out. What we do too sometimes is they pick up a DVD rental and come here to watch it with me, so we will have to be on the lookout for it. There are so many I would love to see. What I do, do is wait till they are released and if I know it is a movie I would like to watch over and over again, I buy it once they go on sale. Then I can curl up with Pebbles in my comfy bed and put it in my Laptop and watch it with her. It is always good to hear what others say about a movie they have seen, and liked.

Thanks

Hugs
