Joan,

What a shame. I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope she handles the recovery OK.

Joan,

Even with your Mom in fairly good health this type of accident takes it toll. I will keep her in my prayers for a quick recovery and for you not to stress out too much.

Oh that is indeed to bad Joan. I hope she makes a speedy, full recovery. Kudos to her for just making it to 93.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all your good wishes very much.
Surgery will probably be tomorrow afternoon unless a slot opens up sooner. Maybe just screws or possibly more extensive surgery.

She's been pretty healthy (she was an athlete and played tennis for years and years) other than her quad bypass and now her short term memory loss.

I hope the surgery goes well and she can be ambulatory soon.

Oh Joan........

Best wishes to your Mom for successful surgery and an uneventful recovery. My grandmother had 3 broken hips after the age of 90. She healed from each one and died from old age just 5 mo. shy of her 103rd birthday. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Love,

Polly

Just got word that she was in surgery prep. Changed doctors to get her surgery done sooner. The other doc couldn't operate until after 5:00 so his partner will do it.

That's quite an amazing story, Polly.

Thanks again for all the good wishes.

I hope your mom makes a smooth recovery. My mom is 92 and has recovered fairly well from two hip fractures. The first one took surgery for a pin, and the second one was fairly minor and healed on it's own. Her bones are pretty porous. What has really caused her problems have been the two compression fractures in her back. She is just slumping more and more. Her short term memory is going too, but she is in fairly good spirits. She jokes that when she finds a good movie, she can watch it every day and it will seem new each time.
