Cod liver oil omega 3
Decided to start taking cod liver oil on top of my vit d, vit b and calcium. Early days for the cod liver oil to see any benefit but I'm wondering is it possible to increase this to start with or do I have to stick with the RDA. Levels...I've been doing some research on this supplement and it is supposed to help with loads of physical problems such as painful joints, brain fog, alcheimers and a load of others. It also said to beneficial for low mood and helps depression. Any thoughts on this guys?

For what it's worth, my system doesn't seem to tolerate fish oil. I don't like to eat fish either, especially oily ones like salmon and tuna. If I were you I'd would start slowly with the fish oil and work up the dose to see how you do.

FWIW, in addition to a multivitamin, (Centrum Silver), I take a 1,000 mg capsule of fish oil each day, and a 1,000 mg capsule of flax seed oil. I started taking them 9 or 10 years ago, along with glucosamine sulphate with condroitin, in order to help prevent wear and tear on my knees, and other joints, because of my work, (stacking 50 lb. bags of corn on pallets). So far, so good.

Angie,
I guess it would depend on how much vit D you are getting in your supplements. Total up the amounts in the vitamins plus the cod liver oil. What is your daily goal? Do you know your vit D blood level? Cod liver oil potentially could have loads of vitamin A and you need to be careful with that.

I'm waiting for blood test results on the vit d, vit b and calcium levels. I have been waiting 2 weeks. Thanks for the information guys, I'll will calculate the amounts and compare with RDA. Levels. I have noticed my nails are much stronger and growing very fast. I'm really happy about that cos for years they wereso weak and split all the time. I reckon somethings working well.
Tex I think I might try the flax seed and The glucosamine sulphate.

Angy,
Be aware that if you eat very much flax seed, it can cause D, (the hulls are the problem). Flax seed oil is not as likely to cause the problem, (unless you use a lot of it).

Good point! I use Spring Valley brand. They are free of gluten, dairy, and soy. (You can even find them at Walmart). It always pays to check the label, though, (as you obviously do), because we never know when a manufacturer will get a bright idea, and change the formulation to include something that we can't tolerate.
