WELCOME STANZ!!!
You have come to the best support group on the Internet, or anywhere for that matter. I understand your apprehension about using steroids. I was also reluctant to take them, but Entocort has been a life-saver for me and I haven't had any side effects. You'll notice from reading here, however, that we are all taking different paths to manage this disease. Some take medications, some manage with diet alone, some do a combination of both. Whatever method you choose will be supported by us. We are here to help you resume living a normal life. And be assured - you will get better.
We always are interested in getting new recipes. When I read that you have quinoa recipes, I perked up. I have a 25 lb. bag of quinoa and would love new recipes on using it and any other gluten-free flours or grains. You can add any recipes to "Dee's Kitchen" located here: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Thanks for the welcome Gloria - Quinoa recipe posted
on the link you provided. This salad is a bit time-consuming to make, but it lasts for days. I hope anyone who tries it will get the vinegar I use, as you'll never go back to any other kind. I'll post more recipes when I have time.
I'm waiting to hear from my Naturopath as to whether I can take L-Glutamine and his opinion on LDN, as I understand this is a prescription med. So far what I've been doing has helped considerably with frequency and severity of my symptoms, although I seem to be having some dizziness issues, not sure if it is the Immodium or the Pepto. Coconut oil seems to have an immediate calming effect if you can get past the lardlike texture of it.
You have all the same food intolerances as a co-worker of mine, I will ask her for recipes also. She's a great cook.

I just wanted to chime in here as a person who has been diagnosed with celiac and MC. FWIW, my celiac biopsies were only a Marsh I level--not terribly advanced at all. My gluten antibodies were very high, though. I had had early symptoms of celiac for nine years prior to diagnosis, and had had unremitting D for six years. I think that supports the assertion that, for some of us, more intolerances develop over time, if we aren't diagnosed early.

Angy, I will get back to you on all of this,
honestly I will, I have just had one hell of a day where I nearly fainted shopping and had to be helped and now have a daughter in possible labor 6 wks early 1K miles away and am on day one of 6 straight as a caterer so I am trying to calm myself down by looking at my email and writing this and hoping I am completely prepped for my job and trying to figure out how to be in LA and do my job in Portland at the same time. Truly there are times I wish to be an orphan. I will be happy to share the recipes I have come up with over the years when I have had people to feed with food intolerances. Hopefully the doctor can stop her labor, she took a header down 2 stairs 10 days ago and has been threatening to go into labor ever since. I should be there.
I realize that I must sound like a drama queen, it's just been one hell of a couple of weeks here for me and my daughter. I think I need to cut back on the Pepto and Immodium, as I have never been a "fainter" before this.

Sorry to hear that you've had such a bad day. We certainly hope that the doctor can resolve your daughter's premature labor issues. A lot can happen in a fall such as that - I hope nothing serious happened.
Please remember to take care of yourself.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Stanz I'm sorry to hear about your daughter having a difficult time with labour. I also hope that she is ok after that fall, that could be quite worrying for both of you..Let's hope mother nature sorts things for her real soon. I agree with tex you need to take care of yourself too and try to take some time out to relax and charge your batteries. any chance of a few days off work to get some rest?
Angy ;)
Thank you all for the good wishes for my daughter
Her MIL came to stay until yesterday, her FIL is there now and will stay until her father arrives and he'll be there until I arrive. She had a compound fracture of her ring finger when she fell and they had to do surgery on it 12 days ago, so she's also in a cast for a month and has been in extreme pain from the surgery. It's just been a pretty awful couple of weeks for her. She's been able to stay in bed now and they appear to have things under control. No more contractions since Wednesday. They gave her two steroid shots to help develop the baby's lungs, should he arrive early, and she has been able to relax - which isn't easy for her - or me, for that matter.
As a freelancer I usually have many days off and can work when I want to, however, this year was very slow in the beginning so I've got a lot of making up to do and don't feel like I can refuse work. Feast or famine, you never know when it's going to be famine again. I am off now until Wed. and should have time to post recipes. I will post a few now.

Stanz, I guess you came aboard while I was out of town.
Thanks for all the recipes. I just hope I can eat some of them.
I was backwards of most PP. I found EnteroLab first and set out to see if it was legit. In my research, I found, Tex, Dr. Polly and the wonderful PP.
It was a life saver for me. I'm doing diet and no meds.
Yes, I have used and recommend Dr. Fine's tests.

It was a really great bonding time with her MIL
They really didn't know each other very well and find now that they have more they connect on than either thought, which is good timing with the baby coming. He will likely be a one-of, as is his Dad, and her MIL has been knitting baby sweaters since they got engaged 8 yrs. ago. I am just so grateful that she came and so happy they enjoyed each other.
I realize that most of the recipes I posted are a bit "spicy" as I like spicy and most of my crew likes it too. I hope you can find something there that you like, Joan. Thanks for the welcome.
I may order some tests from Enterolab, although my Naturopath has access to these as well, not sure which is the most economical way to go, as I imagine my insurance won't pay for either, except through the MRP. I currently don't have any follow-up appt. with either the Gastrointerologist or my PCP, which I need to do. I do have Glutamine in my possession but have not taken it as from what I've read online the dose is 1-2 tsp. 1-4 X a day so...big range there. I'm still looking into LDN, as is my Naturopath. Still don't know if I should just focus on Immodium X 8/day along with probiotics, or if I should also do Pepto at the same time as I suspect it is the Pepto that is making me dizzy. Feel like I'm flailing a bit and hopefully will get some answers soon. So if anyone here has gone the non-steroid route I'd love to know what their protocol was.
