Cranberry Apple Compote (Crockpot)

Dee,
Anyone ever try the recipe using grape juice instead of wine? Guess the alcohol processes the ingredients differently than grapejuice would. Otherwise, would it be a good thing to reduce down the grape juice to increase the intensity of the flavor?
You are such a genious, I know you'll know if/how this could be done.
Thanks!
Yours, Luce

Hi There Luce!
Remember substitutes won't necessarily mimic the flavor of the original ingredient. The intention is to add some acidity and contrast as well as intensify flavors.
You can use red grape juice or cranberry juice and you don't have to reduce the amount.
I would cut back on the amount of sugar in the recipe by 1/4 cup, when choosing to use the fruit juices.
