Book finished!
I've read the entire Harry Potter book, all 652 pages in two days! Whew, wish it would have been longer. LOL
Now I can't wait for the final chapter to be written! Enjoy all you readers out there!
Now I need to find another book to read! Might be Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, or Velocity by Dean Koontz. Either way, they are both on my Summer reading list.
Guess I better stock up for Winter, huh?

Hi Mars...I'm only on page 129 of HP! I really want to finish it before I leave for CA next Sunday...too heavy for my carry-on bag...haha. I also read the Mermaid Chair this summer...I really liked it. I started the Wonder Spot but it wasn't the kind of "read' I needed right now. Also read Housekeeping, a dear, but depressing book. Oh, and I read Janet Evanovich's Ten Big Ones ....still need to read the latest. TTFN....JJ
Peg - do you also like John Saul? He is similar to Koonz. I am also a Stephen King fan!!!!!!! I have an autographed copy of of one of his books - written in black magic marker. Even smeared by his hand!
JJ - Koonz writes horror/mystery, etc. Here is the biton the back of Velocity:
If you don't take this note to the police and get them involved, I will kill a lovely blond schoolteacher somewhere in Napa County.
If you do take this note to the police, I will instead kill an elderly woman active in charity work.
You have six hours to decide. The choice is yours.
Oooooooooooo, sometimes I don't like reading these books when Larry is gone - my imagination gets the better of me!

Mars, I am disabled, so at home all the time, and I have to have a book close by at all times. I just love books. I love owning them and if I could I would have one of those great big libraries full of bookshelves, just brimming with them! My oldest daughter gave me a the one whole series by an author with the last name of Eddings, bad memory problems. But they were amazing tales of magic and far off lands and wizardry, giants and dwarfs and so forth. Lots of fun.
Right now I am reading Up Country, by Nelson Memille, a FBI, espionage type book. I love them all though. I love John Sauls, and Dean Koontz, but also read Clive Clussler, I just love Robert Ludlum, have allot of his novels. My baby girl, Mel, bought me Dan Brown's special edition book for Christmas last year, so it has all the detailed pictures from Davinci.
My baby, (22 yrs old) has just discovered reading, I was always trying to get her to while growing up, but she was always on the go. Now she goes for a coffee at Starbucks in Chapters and is now reading Tuesdays with Morrie. She likes inspirational books too, so I sent her home with three very good ones, on mothers, daughters and sisters, and friends, finding courage as a woman, and Soulfood for women. That should keep her busy for a while.
Its interesting to see what people like to read and finding mutual likes and so forth. And yet I have not read a single HP book, that is dreadful. Although I own all the DVD's, it is simply not the same as reading the book at all. I can't remember how many books I had read and then was very disappointed when I seen the movie, case in question are Robert Lublums Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy. Nothing like the books. The movie versions leave out so much, and the books are so much more intense. Anyway, I don't get out to bookstores that often, and that could also be one of the reasons. Most of the time I am on the run and pick up a couple (limited budget) discounted paperbacks at a place near my grocery store. The main criteria is that they have to be at least 5-600 pages in length. That is a good story. Another novel I just read is by Wilbur Smith, Blue Horizon, set in the early settler days, but discovering Africa and areas there abouts.
I must go now, just got a call from my daughter and they are bringing the new kitty over for me to meet. Can't wait, books and animals, love them both.

I love to read but just cannot get with Harry Potter.
I am a James Michener fan - could be #1 fan - and have read all of his books and have at least one copy of each and am still trying to obtain 2 of his books that feature art. Located one but it was over $1,000 and that is just out of my league.
Jean Aul is also a favorite of mine and she was seriously ill so do not know if she will have another book coming. Have at least 2 hard bound copies of each of her books.
I want to read the DaVinci Code and am trying to get it in the new paperback so I can take it to England with me.
Love, Maggie

Never read Harry Potter
I have it on my to-do list, but have never read a Harry Potter book.
I hope someday to get to writing and illustrating children's books. Have done a couple - one for a friend's daughter and one for my Granddaughter, Sara, when she was ten. Well, maybe one day.
I don't have a particular author that I favour, but do read often.
Have a nice day, everyone - I'm sewing again today.

Do something nice for you today
Good topic!!
I have never read any of the Harry Potter books.
I do read a lot of mysteries, though. My favorite is James Lee Burke. He has two series going now. The main character in the oldest one is Dave Robicheaux who is a Cajun sometimes policeman who lives in New Iberia, Louisiana. The new one stars a lawyer, Billy Bob Holland originally from West Texas who has recently moved to Missoula, Montana. These are fairly gritty books, but JLB is a poet when it comes to describing the setting his characters are in. Especially the bayou country. You almost feel like you are there. These books are concerened with some of the most fundamental problems in life, but are also very exciting to read. They keep me up until the wee hours of the morning reading.
Others I enjoy are Kathy Reichs, Michael Connelly, Peter Robinson (Brit), Ian Rankin, somebodyorother Lehane, And others that have already been mentioned. If I don't have a next book to read around I start going through withdrawal.
Lots of love,
Sally

Congratulations Mars!
I cannot believe how fast you read that book! My son is a Potter Fan, but I've not read any of them.
