Kait--SURGERY today~~~~~~

U know when one finds out they are going to become a grandparent-its a magical-awesome feeling---
Kait was very teesny tiny when she popped into this world---weighed 6 lbs. --and when I saw her I said to Lou--*she is really teensy looking*--who the hell knew what had brewed in her brain--as she developed inside her mommy's tummy~~~
As U all know I watched Kait while Lynn and Will worked--Kait being picked up when they were off to go home--
When Kait was about 3months--I would notice a wee shimmer--so thinking she was wet I changed her often---
And as Kait started to crawl and etc. I noticed that when a truck would go rumbeling down the street she would grab me~~~a BIG noise I thought~~~guess that can happen--
etc etc~~~
The best was--pediatrician's Xplanation--GUESS Kait doesnt know how to swallow !!!!!
Second best was---NEURO--(not Harter) said to Lynn--U would have to video her when she is shaking so as I can see what it looks like??? another idiot!!
To cut to the chase---Kait had a granmal seizure--rushed to hospital(age 2/3) and there this lovely neuro--Dr. Rifkensen did an MRI and there it was---this white spot --and when she said brain tumor -we all stood there with tears running down our faces!!
HOW could this be???
She was happy---she was growing--she started to talk~~~
Kait was in surgery about 10 hours- Dr. Rifkensen came out--very pleased but Xplained that there was still a little piece that she couldnt get and to go any further into Kait's brain might stir up not so good results--and from that surgery she went thru many illnesses--but FINALLY a well sweet Kait started to live life---until at the age of starting high school-is when cosmetic surgery was going to be done but a NEURO was needed due to the shunt--thus entered HARTER (Rifkensen had retired)who said *Kait doesnt need a shunt* and U all know what he said he would do and DID NOT---thus her life has been screwed up since then--
Her body has scars due to all the places that Harter tried new insertions of a shunt--
Kait has been blessed to have Lynn as her mom---
Kait *crochets* like crazy---I asked Kait--how did U learn to crochet--?? Her answer---*Grams,I THOUGHT it*

THIS is UNREAL----LYnn just called---and these 3 neuros(WHO work as a group) at NYU in New York City---cant seem to FIND whats wrong---and they want to send her home!!!! They know she has been puking constantly and it dont matter???? This is HARTER"S group!!!
Well I know when Lou gets home--and hears this he will be in the car and at that hospital--
And from her call this a.m. it sounded as though surgery was going to be started-

Lynn is sobbing so badly and she said---*dont tell me that we are going to go thru all this again*
Lynn was starting to have a good life too---

TELL ME WHY!!!!!! DEAR GOD!!! TELL ME WHY!!!!!!!!!

Sorry--had to end this way---I was so sure it was going to be a call that they had to re-direct the shunt----
Get another NEURO--but as Lynn said THESE 3 are the NEUROS that take care of this ailment--and to leave and find another group--is like lookin for a needle in a haystack--
I told LYNN REFUSE to LEAVE!!!!!
Kait is now 21years of age---

Thanks for the review. I wasn't aware of some of those earlier details.

As for the current situation - all I can do is shake my head in disbelief. I really don't know what to think, at this point. All this is so sad, and so frustrating.

I can't believe this is happening. To expect Lynn to take Kait home is ridiculous. I hope she stands her ground. This child has suffered enough.

There must be something they can do. I pray one of these doctors will come up with an answer. I am so angry at the lack of compassion in the medical field today.

As I read your recap of Kait's life tears rolled down my cheek. I will stop and say special prayers for her and her Drs. as soon as I get off the computer.

Dearest Barbara,

I am absolutely appalled and disgusted by their tiny "part of the world" in the medical community. I would be back in my protest days and screaming "Hell No We Won't Go!" She needs all the help she can get and it is such a shame that a new neuro cannot be found and Lynn has to rely on the original group. I have had my share of neuros for various problems in my earlier years and never found one that I felt like I could trust or rely on.

All I can do at this point is to continue to pray for all of you and especially Kait. May God surround her with love.

What a sad situation. I can't believe that they want to send Kait home. I hope someone recognizes that she can't continue to suffer and she needs help.
