DGL

Post by artteacher »

Is there anyone currently taking DGL? (deglycyrrhizinated licorice). I'm interested in how it's tolerated, whether or not it has helped, etc.

Thanks, Marsha

Quite the opposite. I take licorice tablets as an adrenal tonic to help calm the horrid menopausal hot flushes.

Normal licorice is made of wheat, so is off limits, but I do sometimes eat a GF licorice - with resultant softening of stools if I eat more than a few pieces. Interestingly, the tablets don't have the same effect.

What is the licorice supposed to do, minus it's normal active ingredient?
