No big fish, but had a great time

Post by Jean »

Hi All,

I had a great time on my mini trip. Shannon is now addicted to fishing. She thought she got a snag, when she let her line go slack, she felt a big wiggle and then nothing. She's determined to go back and catch the big one that got away!

We didn't catch anything big, but we did have a grilled perch and bluegill dinner. The fish were caught and eaten in the same night. I forgot how good they are (and how much I hate cleaning them).

I got to relax, play some cards, take a nap, fish morning, noon and night. It was great.

Love, Jean

I think that has always been my main problem with fishing, I have gone, and watched everyone else catch the fish. Meanwhile I sit, and sit, and sit, nada. And being raised in a small northern town built along the Montreal River, being surrounded with lakes, three brothers and a sister who all loved to fish, well I really stood out as odd. But I really think I was traumatized at some point because of the stigma. I just wasn't a good fisherwoman. None the less I could cook them up once they were caught. And during our many ice fishing episodes and the fish just not biting, we would end up just pan frying the smelts we had bought to do the fishing with!

Mostly what I liked the most was getting out, I ended up liking being out on the lake more then anything, and would often take the canoe out by myself, now that was wonderful, especially in the early morning, awake with the loons. My uncle, that just passed away in May had built a campground and my brothers and I, then later on my ex-husband, helped him. It was all scribed log buildings, a big lodge, and an A frame, and other cabins, as well as sites to pitch tents. It was all build along this beautiful lake, with a white sandy beach, out in the wild. I was chief cook and bottle washer. The rest of the time was spent on the lake and swimming.

Great times.

Hugs

What, Jean, no walleyes?? They taste so good!!

Wendy, I used to go out with my aunt in the early morning canoeing on Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. I LOVE the loons.

I'm not much of a fisherwoman, either, but when you're out trolling with poles in the outriggers then nobody really knows who catches what. I am a good netter, though!!

Love to you both,

Sally

Oh Yeah....Walleye is great fish. I like them all. Most of the fishing trip for me is just sitting quietly waiting for the snag...even if I catch nothing I have listened to nature and was peaceful with things around me. I went fishing one time and My labor started ...I was 9 1/2 months preggo. Fished right thru the first part of the false labor. Ended up going to hospital and was told it was false labor.....went back fishing. Love Oma
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
