Ant - a thought about vodka

Post by Polly »

Hi Ant,

I saw in a post that you sometimes drink vodka. Are you aware that most vodkas are made from grains but that there are some made from potatoes? I found a potato vodka made in Poland. Would be happy to share the brand if you are interested.

Love,

Polly

If I have a cocktail, I use Absolut Vodka and have no problems.
I purchased a sulfite free wine at Whole Foods made by Orleans Hill. It's a Zinfandel.
Guess I'm saving it for special occasion.

Dee,

The main ingredient in Absolut vodka is wheat. And it gives you no problem? That's awesome! I notice that you don't list any food intolerances under your avatar. Does this mean that you can eat gluten?

Here's what I received.
Here is an official response Absolute and its good news:

Dear Denise,

Thanks for your email and your interest in ABSOLUT VODKA.

The ingredients for the production of ABSOLUT VODKA are grain (winter wheat),
sweetening enzymes (in the mashing process), yeast and water from our own well.
It does not contain any gluten as it is removed in the production process. For
the production of flavored vodka, only natural ingredients from berries, fruits
and spices are used.

Best regards,

No Polly, I don't eat any gluten, dairy or soy..
I just haven't put it under my avatar.....
I'm still on some Entocort and plan on staying on it, plus the diet, because I have finally gotten myself up, ( I hope I don't jinx myself) to 130 pounds!!!! LOL!!!!!

I know there are other potato based vodka's but the brand names don't come to mind, since I can have a fifth sitting here for months & months and then decide to have a cocktail! :-)
I'll check those out & report back...

I drink vodka and have never had a problem, which is a good thing since I gave up my beloved wine.

Cheers!

Yup, I thought the distilling process got rid of the bad part. Same goes for Scotch Whisky (unless they add stuff afterward).

Cheers! Ant

I can rember steping on the scale and seeing 132 lbs and going WOW dude you are doing something right and all with healthy foods .

Makes me laugh that such small steps can bring such great joy
