your post reiterates to me why i was so diligent about diet and health post my last surgery in 1995. The surgeon told me if the obstructions occured again (or if i had a baby) i would most likely have to have a colostomy.
I was deterrmined not to have one before I turned 40!!! (so hence no babies for me)
it was a bit ironic that i got chronic symptoms around the time of my 40th birthday. I was actually relieved and happy when the diagnosis was MC and that i did not need a colostomy.
HOpe the silver linings are still showing themselves and that you continue to improve.

WHEW - I am soooooo relieved to hear your upbeat post and that you are feeling so much better! It sure has been an ordeal for you these last few (4+) years. It seems that when it rains it pours with you - you just can't do anything on the small scale, can you? LOL

What a great attitude you have. I expect that is what gets you through all of the trials & tribulations. Hope that you keep on improving.
I have not been on the board much of late but Barbara told me of your problems.
Things have been a bit hectic around here as well. My brother-in- law is back in hospital, this time for a chest infection that they don't seem to be able to get on top of. His cancer is starting to effect him much more as well although they say he may have a year or so left. His legs are going on him now & it looks as though he will be using a wheelchair from now on. He too has a positive attitude & when at home he sets himself a small chore each day.
My sister is back at work, although she still has to go for herseptin each month. I think it will be more or less a permanent thing because they told her that her cancer was a very agressive one. I went with her for her latest scans & there are some sort of lumps in her other breast. They think they are Ok but fingers crossed. She says that if it comes back that she won't have the chemo ever again. She had a very bad time with it because of her liver & heart problems. She, like you & Les has a positive attitude & I think that is the most important thing in any illness.

I'm so sorry to hear of the problems that your brother-in-law is having, and I hope that they can get that infection under control, soon. It's good to hear that your sister has been able to return to work. Hopefully, those lumps will turn out to be benign.
I certainly agree with you that having a positive attitude is a vital part of getting through any medical crisis, and it surely helps to make it easier to deal with other day-to-day issues, as well. I've been very, very fortunate, in that I've never had to deal with cancer. I have no doubt that it's much more difficult to maintain a positive attitude, for someone going through those treatments, but that surely makes a positive attitude all that much more important.

Both of Les' brothers died from prostrate cancer. He didn't know he had it until too late. It is now right through him & past any treatment. Very good case for all men to be tested periodically.
My sister did not worry about having a mammogram because she was busy working & anyway she said there was no breast cancer in our family. Well there is now.
My mother- in- -law had breast cancer so it is on BOTH sides of our daughters family. I am on to our three daughters & our three grand daughters will be getting plenty of reminders as they get older. Nikki is 23 now & not too young to be on the lookout for any signs.
