Hi Oma,
I got a Chi 7 mo ago. She is so adorable. Her name is Allie. She was 3 mo. old when I got her.
I have had a lot of health issues with her though. Kennel cough that lasted for months, ear infection, a bout with "D" and throwing up. And now the latest her knee's keep coming out and she limps sometimes until they go back in place. The vets tell me it is very common in Chi's and small dogs. My regular vet told me she needed surgery and said a Orthopedic Surgeon needed to do it. So I called the Surgeon and it would cost $1500 - $2000 per leg!!!!!! I cryed that weekend off and on. Every time I looked at her I felt so bad. I don't have that kind of money. And I thought who is going to want her and put out that money. I was going to contact a Chihuahua rescue. Someone in my condo complex heard about it. And told me to go see her vet. Her vet fixed the same problem for her son's dog and was not so expensive. So I took Allie there. I like the vet and he said if he did it he would charge $800- $900 per leg. But, he suggested for me to wait and she may not need the surgery. It seems like only her left leg bothers her. She doesn't seem to be in any pain so I'm going to wait it out. I just worry about when she ages and what problems it may cause if I don't correct the problem.
She is so cute!!! And she loves people. I have never seen a dog that loves people so much. When I take her out for her walks (which is often because I live in a condo with no yard) she is just so excitied to see people or other dogs. She is sooooo friendly. And she brings a smile or laugh to everyone we meet each and every time.
Just wanted to tell you about my little Allie.
Love,
Joyce

Joyce...She sounds so sweet. We found our Jasmine at the shelter at 8mo old. She is so sweet. We decided we can't give her up...we are atached now. So we will do the insulin thing. I hope all works out for you little sweet Chihuaha. My heart goes out to all these sweet animals. Love Oma
