It's Not Meat, But Processed Meat, That Increases Risk

Post by tex »

Hi All,

According to a Harvard study, preservatives are the likely cause of an increased risk of heart disease and diabetes, associated with processed meat. For decades, it was claimed that eating red meat carried a high risk of developing all sorts of dire consequences, but that has been disproved, with the discovery that it's processed meat, that carry the risk, and not unprocessed meat.

My question is, why did they do such sloppy work in the first place, when they originally wrongly implicated all red meat?

Media (sensationalism)
Funding

if they make a radical statement about something that humans have been consuming for thousands of years... then someone will give them more money to prove the original research incorrect....
it is the marketing strategy of a researcher, to ensure they stay employed.
