Hi all, I recently took a trip to visit a cousin in another state. She is very health conscious. First morning, I get up, look in the mirror and see that I have a very bloodshot eye, also matter leaking out. I show my cousin the offending eye and she says "pink eye, you have pink eye, and need to have that looked at today....it's very contagious and the whole family could get it". She makes me an appointment and I find myself sitting in a tiny examining room at the clinic. Nice lady doctor comes in and discussion ensues:
What brings you here today?
I woke up this morning with this nasty eye. I think I have pink eye.
She moves in closer for a good look and I say:
Well, doc, is it pink eye? She says:
It's not.
I say, it's not? What could it be? She says:
It's not.
I say, it's not? She says:
Yes.
I say, yes but what is it? She says:
Snot.
I say, did you say snot or it's not? She says"
Snot.
Horrified, I say how can I have snot coming out of my eye!!
She says, it's common. Sinuses get full and the stuff pushes its way out.
I say, so is it contagious? Don't want to give it to the whole family.
She says, I could prescribe an eye drop just in case.
I say, I'll take it. We part friends.
Back in the car, cousin asks about the offending eye...what is it?
Don't worry, I say, the family is safe.......I have eye drops.
On an extra note, I liked this doctor so this is snot doctor bashing. Sylvia

Doctor, make my day!
Do good or do not
HAHAHAHA, Syl! Thanks for a good laugh.
Sounds like pinkeye (conjuctivitis) to me. It is not at all usual for the sinus cavity to be connected to the eye socket. In fact, it would be a medical emergency for the eye to be bathed in sinus mucus. A very serious problem. Maybe what she meant was that sinus pressure can cause a blockage of tear ducts, which can then release mucus.
Anyway, I'm glad you got drops - I hope they were antibiotic drops.
Loved the way you told the story. Very clever!
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
