Hi again, I believe I mentioned this before, but it's so worth it to mention it again.....I have LC, like you, and manage it with diet alone, although I did need to use Imodium a few times at the start, plus probiotics. The most dramatic almost overnight change was going gluten free and the heartburn going away almost overnight. If I eat even one piece of bread (and I crave the stuff) I get terrible heartburn. I know that when doctors prescribe all sorts of medicines in the hopes of something working, you are bound to get side effects, and some of them are the same as what you are trying to cure. I was struck by the amount and variety of drugs you are taking. I was told that to get control of my LC flare (by a gastroenterologist) that I would need to take Asacol for one year. He actually said that....one year. Plus, of course, this thing when it is flaring, is depressing, so some docs will prescribe something for that, as well. Nausea is a common complaint with lots of drugs on top of having it natually, during a flare. So like I said before, if you follow everyone's advice, or try, it makes you crazy. At least on this board, you are dealing with people who are living with the same thing as you. I wonder how many of these docs have had MC? Hang in there, you are getting very good advice here from those who have been down and out and thru trial and error and good advice, come back to a better life. Sylvia

my digestion is definately happier eating cave man food.

meat on the bone seared then simmered for a few hours in water
small amount of salt, G/F Tamari and G/F Worshiture sauce for flavour
thickened with tapioca flour

i have this with mashed potato or gooey rice.

Polly,

I just take the vitamin D twice a week for a couple of months and then once a week for another month I think?
Are your vtiamin D levels low also?

I keep getting this terrible burning in my stomach and upper abdomen. I am also very belchy. It makes me feel so sick. I had a terrible day today. Any ideas of what could be causing it or what to do to feel better?

A note only. I think MC/LC, CC, etc. whatever --has an immeasurable effect--mentally, on us all. If we choose to fight this with or w/o drugs, this is not a demon for which we should be maligned or otherwise discriminated against or for that matter, misunderstood...........

This is a physical, mental and emotional situation. It brings tears to my eyes to read about eacheothers pain. I "went off" on my husband last night simply because he couldn't understand what it was like to live like you have the flu all the time...........

Please be sure to read all the posts you can here. There are so many individual and extreme situations here that run the gamut; please do not make a blanket decision based on what you find here. We are all individuals with varying diagnoses and sensitivities-- that no one answer will fit any of us.

I wish us all wellness and calm.

After I was diagnosed (9/07)I was ok on sulfasalazine until my white count dropped to 700 so the dr. switched me to Asacol. I developed intolerances(salicylates and fructose) and allergies (soy and peanuts) over the next 1 1/2 years. 6 weeks ago I finally went gluten free and am feeling sooooo much better although my diet is still very strict--vegies only twice a week, no fruit, just rice and meat or fish and homemade gluten free bread, eggs and milk. I do take a multiple vitamin (Freeda quintab-M with no gluten, corn, soy or salicylates and vitamin D3 derived from lanolin about three times a week. I plan to start adding fruits and vegies back in slowly to see if I tolerate them.

It sounds as though you're doing all the right things, and making good progress.

It's good to see you posting, and I hope your good progress continues. Again, welcome aboard.

Dear mcnomore

:welcome: from Hong Kong. Interesting to see you are drinking milk. Hope you are one of the exceptions and can keep dairy in your diet.

All the best, ant
