What a weekend - whew!
Well Friday was my day off so of course I took the opportunity to do numerous chores. Silly me. Friday night I was supposed to go with Ron to visit some friends that just returned from England, but I was too tired and my tummy was really acting up so I decided to stay home close to my own . I sipped on a few marg-all-rightas and had a great with a dear friend.
Saturday a few more chores and a nice long walk to pick up a few things for today's barbecue. Then off to a friends place where we gathered around a bonfire in his back yard and swapped stories with a handful of beer swilling buddies . We didn't get home until 1:30 this morning so a bit of a late start today!
Need to do a bit of tidying up before Momster arrives - wash the patio funiture and stuff then off to . I'm making prawns sauteed in white wine and garlic for an appy. Ron is making fesh garden salad and oven roasted potatoes to go with the salmon Mom is bringing. I am doing dessert, which I will start on soon...fresh California strawberries halfed and drizzled with white and dark chocolate. I've never made these before so hope they turn out okay. We had them at a friend's place and they were soooooo good.
Hope you all are having a nice weekend. I'll pop in here and there.
Love,
Peg

Hmmmmmmmmm. That DOES sound good. You know, you Canucks know how to make a meal interesting. The only salmon I ever see is in a can. I've seen prawns maybe twice in my life, and never eaten any. Never tried strawberries with chocolate sauce, either.
This is almost like reading about living in a foreign country. LOL. I'm like Sally--I'll be sitting here drooling on my keyboard, and thinking about what a great time you're having.
Hugs,
Wayne

Well, I've had crab before, and there are a lot of shrimp down here in the Gulf. To me, fish means catfish. LOL.

Mmmmm...Strawberries in chocolate! It doesn't get better than that! I'm off in a few to mix myself a bowl of rasberries and blueberries. I love fresh berries of almost any type.
As for the fish, I can tolerate salmon, lobster, and steamed clams, but I usually pass. Lobster is only fun if my Mom is along and I can point the critter at her so it watches her eat! She hates that. Besides fish from the Atlantic is much more contaminated that Pacific fish.
Hope you are enjoying Peg (almost used past tense, but with the time difference, you may still be chowing away).

Catfish, yum.
Just don't ever ask me to kill one of the damn things. My son, Mike, and I tried once and failed miserably. Grampa had to come knock it in the head with a hammer. And then trying to skin it......!!
You really have to like catfish to go through all of that.

Once you get the hang of it, you can skin 'em pretty easily, by just pulling the skin off with a good pair of pliers.

The strawberries were DElicious!!!
Peg - your drizzling was fine - I've never tried it either, but must do so one day. I think I should invent a spoon with the ends bent over to form a little hole in the end. Bet that would work. The strawberries were so good - The only problem was trying not to eat too many.
We sure had fun and everything was delicious and then we ladies soundly thrashed the guys in a few games of crib and even made them cough up a toonie each. Ronny HATES to play games for money, so, of course, Peg and I force him to do it every time we visit. I guess mother's in law do have some clout (tee-hee).
Anyway, a fun day and today I'm taking it easy any putting my feet up.
I was a bad girl yesterday - got mad because I'd been trying to get John to clean up our locker for months so decided to tackle it myself. I found no less than 12 old fans hidden in there. He kept complaining that our artificial Christmas tree took up too much room, but there seems to be a lot of room now that all those fans are gone. Anyway, I'm pretty sore today, so have to take it easy. (It was worth it, though).
Have a nice day, everyone.
