i read some of the comments in previous threads/posts regarding probiotics.
i was going to ask what reactions did people have?
my dear friend who is a naturopath has given me some samples of different brands of probiotics to try.
Last time i tried one brand, i got the worst gas i think i have ever had and a bit of D
given that gas is the likely symptom i can only 'test' them on Sundays (not at work and TK is not there)
yesterday i tried another one and again, about 5 hours of taking the probiotic i then spent at least 6 hours with really bad gas
I had nothing else new or different so i am guessing the gas is the outcome of the probiotic. I am interested to hear what other peoples reactions have been.
THANKS

Have never found a pro biotic that helped at all, In fact made things worse. Particularly those that contained FOS. So many contain traces of dairy and I suspect that is the problem for me.
The good news is that I enjoy regularly eating Sauerkraut that has large amounts of lactobacilli and since it is not a milk product I have no problems.
Nothing like a snapingly delicious sweet organic apple with some Sauerkraut for a snack. Sweet and sour. I love it. Also makes a great accompaniment to a pork chop or other roasted meat.
Sorry I can not give you a name of a product in pill form. Was once one of my frustrations but as always their are alternatives.

THanks Matthew
i am using ones that are dairy free/lactose free namely developed for IBS
Metagenics Probex contains a therapeutic probiotic strain: Lactobacillus plantarum 299v. Clinical studies show that L. plantarum 299v has an anti-inflammatory effect and assists in the management of medically diagnosed Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). This therapeutic probiotic strain may assist in relieving digestive symptoms associated with IBS, such as bloating, flatulence, abdominal distension, constipation and/or diarrhoea.
my naturopath girlfriend is interested in the reactions that MC sufferers have to the probiotic.
so she can review and investigate the differences between MC and IBS

I have used dairy free Culturelle for about 10 months now, without side effects. I am going to get off of it soon as I feel much more regular than in the past. Do I know of it helped? No, but I also don't think it hurt.
One thing to watch out for with probiotics is FOS (fructooligosaccharide). It's a highly fermentable Carbohydrate and cause gas and GI upset. It's sometimes added as "food" for the good bacteria.
