Well, when I made the decision to take Lupron, I took the prescription to the pharmacy I usually use, and they say, it will be ready in 20 minutes or so. Great. Doc wants me to have it ASAP and is expecting me back at the office shortly, and I need to go to the grocery and buy cat food anyway...so I can kill 20 minutes. So I go back over, and I get "its really expensive, are you sure you want it, we'll have to order it." Duh, I wouldn't give you the prescription if I wasn't going to take it. So anyways, I had to wait a day to get it, then go back to the doc's office to be given it.
Well, given that experience, I called in my next dose on Friday since I have my appointment to be given said shot on Wednesday. Give them some time to get it. Well, to be safe, I just called the pharmacy. They haven't ordered it yet! They get their deliveries at 3:30 and my appointment is at 4:15! They are going to put a note on it that I need it processed as soon as it arrives, but why do I have a feeling that its not going to be there and ready and all that. I have to take time off of work for this too so if its not ready, while I'll have time to eat dinner before going to the kid's track meet, I'll have to schedule more time off of work this week.
Its not like I want to deal with this damn drug anyway! No wonder Geoff said a lot of people are switching to the other pharmacy in town.

I can sympathize, Katy. When my favorite little pharmacy (an indy) had to close down they transferred everything over to Walgreen's. Fortunately, one of the pharmacists, Marilyn, transferred, too. The head one. When she got there she told me that everything was in such a mess and people weren't getting their prescription filled on time and she did a big shake up around there. The first few weeks were pretty horrible. They didn't stock Entocort and had to order it. Now they order it ahead of time because they know I will be coming in for it. The thing is, it's very important to GET TO KNOW YOU PHARMACIST!!!
Lots of love,

Hi Kate,
I totally understand what you are saying. Luckily we still have one independant Rx in our area and I really do rely on them for Frank's medicine. It just seems that the good old corner Rx is a thing of the past and now you are in the big shuffle of large chains and insurance.
Wah I want to go back to the good old days.

It is important to have a good pharmacy! There is a local small pharmacy in town & the only place I can get my compound prescriptions. The gal who mixes my prescriptions is a friend and she will always do a good job for me.
I have tried about every other pharmacy in town and they are all about the same.....Terrible customer service.....I got so mad at Rite-Aid for forgetting about me in the drive-thru, what does the guy do...laughs & he still had the camera on.
We certainly don't need the extra stress!

We have Rite Aid here in Ohio also and I have found their customer service has gone drastically down hill over the last few years.
I dropped off a perscription once and told them that the patient was in extreme pain and needed the rx ASAP. I was told there would be a 4-5 hour wait. Needless to say, I took back the rx and went to another pharmacy and never returned to Rite Aid.
I have been happy with the one I use now (CVS Pharmacy). They fill perscriptions based upon "waiting" and "pickup later". Nice when you don't feel good and need to wait.
