Thanks for the reminder on the crockpot. Seems I use it every week for months then forget about it..since it is stored under the counter:)

There are only two of us at home now and I can cook a roast or a chicken and just about eat all week from cooking one meal.

I like to eat whatever the meat is as one meal then vary the other meals with spices and rice.. whatever strikes my fancy the day I decide to use the meat/chicken again.. everything from stir fry to soup. Sometimes I just make up a bunch of meals the day I use the crockpot and freeze them in containers that hold enough for both of us. I hate to cook so anything that means I don't have to cook every day is a plus:)

Tex, you are always thinking of how to help all of us; we are so blessed! I have tried Dee's recipes and they are sooooooooo good and it is an immense help when you are working; even weekends when you don't want to work (in the kitchen). Just finished up grilling out pork chops, chicken, made a turkey meat loaf and a huge pot of chicken & rice soup that will keep me going for two weeks!

Thanks Maxine for the new site. My family eats what I eat, but we do get bored with the plain old cooking. Maybe when I retire  I will become creative........nah! Ginny

living alone - doing the cook up on the weekend means i have all my meals for the week and spares.
i am too tired of a night to cook and eat so i have my main meal at lunchtime at work. I definately sleep better when i do this.

i think it is peace of mind thing, I have my meals for the week so matter what ever happens i have 'gabe food'

Joe,

I don't know if you were ever directed to this thread on mycobacterium avium paratuberculous: http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... m&start=15

If not, you could learn a lot there. I don't remember where I saw this statistic from a study, but I remember reading one where they found MAP in 82% of Crohns patients.

Connie that's an interesting thread and I will be researching that tonight. Until now I never heard of MAP.

Thanks

Well, Joe, pour a glass of wine and enjoy, this is a fascinating bunch of information. You have a lot to learn.

The study statistics on MAP in Crohns patients was actually 87%, there is a link to that study in this thread, which is still my all time favorite I've seen here. I obviously haven't read everything

You're welcome, we all put a lot of investigative work into this thread. It was Tex who started it off, bless his heart.

I know Tex has been a walking encyclopedia of information which has been immensely helpful. At this point I am in data reduction mode to try and make sense of it all for both CC and crohns

Totally understand, it can be overwhelming, knowledge is power but sometimes it's just too much to digest.

Reality is that most research on this is not done in the US, most is done in countries where they have socialized medicine and thus have a vested interest in curing illness. Finland requires genetic testing for GS by age 8. We see statistics that would indicate that GS and bowel issues are centered in Northern European countries. These are the only countries actually doing this research. I don't believe that humans are different regardless of where they live or how inbred their populace might be. I'd be willing to bet that if the US did the kind of research that N. European countries have done, our statistics would be the same.

We are run by corporate interests here, that includes our hospitals and doctors whose salaries are paid by corporations. Small wonder.....

Exactly, and that pretty well covers the whole way the US operates and us chickens just hope the fox doesn't eat us.
