Well, it is supposed to be his job to help resolve your medical issues. Apparently he isn't aware of that, though.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Dear Olivia
I am not an American so have no right to comment, but I cannot stop myself.....you are clearly and honorable committed to looking after your country and your doc's job must surely be to look after those who look after the country. It seems to me he is getting close to "Dereliction of Duty", let alone ignoring the Hippocratic Oath!
I can see that your options are limited and you need to play the cards you have been dealt, but I sure hope you get a break.
Best, ant

Olivia,
I feel the same as others here. If this doctor continues to ignore danger signs and is dismissing you as some sort of troublemaker/problem child, then you need to do whatever you can to be heard. This is just insane, you don't ignore these symptoms, you're not making this up to avoid service. You are sick.
I wish I could say I'm surprised, but considering the experiences with the VA that was supposed to help my generation, they don't volunteer to help unless they are politically pushed to do so.

Ant- you are sooo right i do have to play with the cards that are delt and unfortunatley for me i do have to watch how i speak and say to my doc because i can be deemed "disrespectful to an officer."

strange question...
do you have counselling services available to you on base? of a level that they would be similar rank to the doctor
my thinking is that you go to them and express your frustration at your health situation (without pinpointing or acusing the doctor)
suss the counseller out and if you think they will be proactive and supportive then mention that you know there is more options avialable to you from medical services external to the base. and a far part of your frustration is knowing there is a better way, but you are not allowed to use it...
does this make sense??
i have used this tack with a problem supervisor ..... it worked for me. went to equiv of that supervisor. sussed out if they were in the right mindset to help me.
fair enough the doctor is a w&nka and his approach to your condition and current symptoms is starting to cause long long term affects, both physically and emotionally.
