Thanks, all of you for the support and welcoming me in.
Tex my diet was basically chicken and rice with only water or some specific kinds of fruit juices. I am certainly interested in the diet that you all are using to control your symptoms. What I had explained to be was the immodium helps slow down the D so that the Ampfloracel has a chance to absorb into the system and to also give the colon a break as it is the D that keeps it bleeding etc.
I think the reason that this stuff intrigued me was the testimonials about how they could eat normally (The good stuff) :) with no issues. And I more because I hate dieting. I firmly believe had I stayed on the maintenance doseage I wouldn't be dealing with this now. I spoke to people that had been using this stuff for years and have never had another symptom. Now I'm not saying it couldn't come back it is just a number of people (and some of them worse off than I was) had great succeess.
But you are all right, we are all different and what I should of said in my initial post was it may help her as it did me. I just get so frustrated with this disease and even after 16 years my friends and family still do not understand. I always use thier experience with having a colonoscopy to relate to them what I deal with everyday.
I think it is really sad that these companies would go to the extent of spamming a support group to pray on them. I understand now the responses to my post so thank you for clarifying.

Hi Tom, welcome to our board and thank you for sharing your story. We all learn from each other and are interested in success stories. Your approach might be something someone might want to try. We are all different and until you try something, you never know. A supplement called Dmannose has helped me, but I know it hasn't helped other people. I'm also taking 1 entocort pill every other day and hope to be off in a month. If not, I'll return to the entocort because it has helped me have a good quality of life. Good luck to you on your journey of healing. JoAnn

Dear Tom
Thank you for sharing. I feel your comment about "naysayers" was a cry to the world and not to anyone on this board - I have many times wanted to scream at the world.
Again welcome. What interests me is that the gut can be coated, but soy is problem for me and many others. I wonder if soy is an essential ingredient to the product?? What I am thinking is that it might have some of the properties of Pepto Bismal without some of PB's long term use side effects.....if only it did not have soy. I am interested in anyone's knowledge and views on this.
All best, Ant

Tom,
That's a gluten-free, casein-free, soy-free, and various other intolerances-free diet. It's the same diet that we recommend and use, and it's the most likely reason why you were able to attain complete remission. I'm not saying that the product that you bought did not help to slow down the diarrhea, or possibly help something else, but the only way to attain true remission, with any of the inflammatory bowel diseases, (IOW, allow your colon to return to normal histology), is to completely stop the inflammation, and the only way to do that, is to remove the foods from your diet, that are causing the inflammation in the first place. Otherwise, you will eventually relapse, after stopping treatment, since there is no cure for any IBD.
Also, about half of us are soy-sensitive, and anyone who is soy-sensitive, would not be able to achieve remission, using a product containing soy - so apparently, if that product contains soy, then you're not soy-sensitive.
All of the drug treatments labeled for UC, do not stop the inflammation from forming, they only reduce/minimize it. The anti-TNF drugs come close, (if you don't mind destroying your immune system, in the process), but they still do not address the root of the problem, and they are loaded with risks of dangerous side effects. Please read NJ's post in this thread, (it's post number 5):

P. S. Actually, companies don't spam us - only individuals, presumably working on commission, based on "hits".

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
In 2005:

From that site, this "testimonial" really caught my eye:
After all the bad publicity, the product was renamed, and reintroduced, as AMP FLORACEL®. It's nothing but purified aloe vera, known as aloe mucilaginous polysaccharide, (AMP). Aloe is sold for many purposes. It is officially classified by the FDA as a Category I over-the-counter stimulant laxative, meaning that it is generally recognized as safe and effective if used appropriately for this purpose. It is not FDA approved for any other purpose.
The most obvious lie on the site is this claim:
Sorry, but FWIW, after reviewing the site again, and doing some more research about it, I haven't changed my opinion of it - In fact, I'm more convinced than ever, that it's a blatant scam.
This quote says it all:
This is only my opinion, of course, and it's worth exactly what you paid for it - nothing. As scams go, though, I have to say that site is one of the easier ones to classify. They even have the gall to point out that it's the same product, and the same people from the original scam - they just changed the name, to get the FDA off their back. I guess they figure their customers are too dumb, (or too trusting), to do the research necessary to flush out the original scam.
You were right about me being a naysayer - products such as that definitely bring out the naysayer in me.

The red emphasis is mine, of course, but if this doesn't change your opinion of them, I have some property in a remote area of New Mexico that I think you would be interested in, and believe it or not, I could be persuaded to sell it, (for the right price).“I bought (an expensive) one-month supply of AMP from MoloCure. The restrictive diet alone will cure you! But it is difficult to have confidence in a product with supporting literature with so many typos. I also looked up their address (4631 NW 31st AV, Ft Lauderdale.) IT'S A MAIL BOXES ETC DROP BOX, located between a Subway Sandwich shop and a video store.”

It might be natural, (after all, so is ricin, the deadly poison made from the caster bean), but even all herbs have adverse side effects, for some individuals. There is no such thing as a drug, (nor an herb), without negative side effects of some nature, for someone, somewhere. While most, if not all, drugs have negative side effects, our 100% all natural A.M.P. FLORACEL has no negative side effects and an abundance of healing capabilities.

This quote says it all:
It is indeed a lot like eating an apple, and probably almost as effective. In fact, healthwise, you would probably be better off, eating an apple, (be sure it is well-cooked, though. LOL). And, financially, you would be waaaaaaaaaay ahead. The fact of the matter is, you didn't achieve remission because of that product - you achieved remission in spite of taking it.AMP FLORACEL® is not a drug! Taking AMP FLORACEL® is like eating an apple; no more harmful, yet the effects are extremely beneficial.

Tex,
I did some research on this earlier today and am even more skeptical than I was originally. I especially love Cindy's explanation here: http://ampfloracel.com/html/history.html
about the lawsuit and how this product was developed. I find zero evidence that either Cindy - or the unappreciative boyfriend whose life she saved (since they wanted to remove his intestines), Frederick Leto, who then ungratefully tried to steal her product and market it under another name - have any medical or scientific training to give them any credibility at all. Dr. Willner is not w/o major controversy either, IMO, and he's the MD whose name Cindy uses as a testimonial.
The typos that are consistent on the website are also an indicator for me and I'm sorry if that sounds snobby, but spell check is your friend, even if you are completely confident.
Tom, I'm sorry if you feel we are picking on you personally, as clearly one cure does not fit all of us with this disease, I'm sorry, but I just don't buy this as a legitimate product in any way. Certainly not one that you couldn't get for much less money w/o the fantastical claims that Cindy makes. This doesn't make me feel any better either: http://www.casewatch.org/fdawarning/prod/2005/gms.shtml
I'm done researching this personally, I've got better things to do. I don't see the huge # of success stories anywhere that you alluded to, I pretty much see complaints. If you can guide us to these massive claims that sold you on this product, I'll read them.
Until then I may be in my kitchen cooking up another miracle cure, I need to retire comfortably.

Tex and Stanz,
I appreciate and respect your position on this. Like I said I was skeptical before myself but I was desperate and tried it so maybe that makes me a fool but the results, at least for me were very positive. I will see if it is indeed the diet as I am not dieting at all while taking it this time around. I am however avoiding alcohol and Italian food as those seem to really bother me. I just hate bland food. :) Stanz all of the testimonials I referred to are on the ampfloracel website but keep in mind most of the original ones that I seen back in 04 are no longer there as I guess that was part of the whole molo-cure fiasco.
I definitely do not take any of this personally and all I was trying to do was help.

Tom,
You are definitely not a fool for trying it. With the IBDs, the medical experts don't know how to adequately treat them, so we have to learn, by trial and error, how to treat ourselves. As is often repeated here, any treatment that helps, is fair game, because the name of the game is to control the symptoms, as quickly as possible, by whatever works for us, individually.
Good luck with the treatment, and please keep us posted on your progress, because we're always looking for alternative treatments that work, and the actual experience of others is extremely valuable. We are all guinea pigs, at one time or another. Regardless of what any of us have said here, if you can achieve and maintain remission with that treatment, (without a restricted diet), then we are definitely interested. However, please don't punish yourself unnecessarily, just to try to prove us wrong.

For what it's worth, Angie, I took an aloe vera product called Digestinol, similar to the one you are researching (and similarly expensive) for about a month last summer. While I did not see immediate or in any way startling improvement, as I have with the LDN, there was slow, subtle and steady improvement. I simply could not afford to continue it and that's why I stopped. I found out about it on a Crohn's web forum, and it had helped some people there.

Linda,
Same product, different name. Digestinol is the name the boyfriend used when he stole Cindy's product. The FDA warned them to stop making the claims they were on what their product did: http://www.casewatch.org/fdawarning/prod/2005/gms.shtml

So, it looks like they rewrote their brochures, but didn't change the product. At best, it would seem that this product can give some relief only while you are taking it. I see no evidence anywhere that it would have lasting value.Examples of some of the claims observed on your web site include:
A.M.P. Molo-Cure®
"Multitudes are testifying to full recoveries from "incurable" auto-immune and digestive diseases with A.M.P. Molo-Cure® without drugs or side effects."
"This natural solution is crutial [sic] for sufferers of all auto-immune disorders, IBD, Ulcerative Colitis (UC), Crohn's Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Diverticulitis, Diverticulosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Ulcers, Acid Reflux Disease, (GERD), Allergies …"
"The AMP molecule: Helps stop the bleeding, damage and leakage of the intestine wall… [a]cts as a potent anti-inflammatory agent to reduce inflammation … [p]romotes and accelerates the tissue healing process… [h]as direct anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-yeast and anti-parasitic effects."
Furthermore, your product is not generally recognized as safe and effective for the above referenced conditions and therefore, the product is also a "new drug" under section 201(p) of the Act [21 USC 321(p)]. New drugs may not be legally marketed in the US without prior approval from FDA as described in section 505(a) of the Act [21 USC 355(a)]. FDA approves a new drug on the basis of scientific data submitted by a drug sponsor to demonstrate that the drug is safe and effective

Tex (Wayne),
We are sorry for the typo made by our IT Department and thank you for pointing it out. The correct word should have been "Agronomist", we hope that you do not judge the product based on a human error. I am not here to sell anything and I am sorry if anyone here has not had a positive experience with AMP, but please know that our product has helped several people with different forms of Colitis.
Thank you,
AMP_Rep
