So far So good!

Post by Emjayn »

Ah, here I am again. Just thought I'd give thanks to you all for all the help Ive had on this forum. Im doing pretty well lately. Changes Ive made in 2 months....NO more NSAIDS! Am Gluten free; no salads; No raw fruits 'cept banana; only 1 teabag ( used twice) daily; Use Inca substitute instead of Coffee; make heaps of home made vegy and chicken soup; Having less meat, mainly just Fish and chicken; Plenty of cooked vegs; regular bifidus yoghurt..yacult: Multi vit and mineral; Vit C; Mucilax: Glucosoine and chondroiten.
I still have 2 squares of really dark plain chocolate occasionally; even still have 2 wee icecreams a week ( to keep hubby company ( as a diabetic he looks forward to our 2 wee ones weekly).
Really not too many changes as I was already using Soy milk and it doesnt seem to effect me. Major changes were no Naproxen or gluten. I have less tummy pains or wind and only 'go' 2 or 3 times dly (and is NOT loose.) I do avoid corn now. Will continue with this regimen and am glad to have lost the 3.5 k. Has to be better for the old joints. So thanks again for all the wisdom on here.. God Bless!

Hi Emjayn, that sounds really good all the life changes you have made the last two months. Do you also use medication, or you only do diet (in that case it would be really great). I also think it is a good idea (besides diet regime) once in a while also eat "treat food". At least it helps me to stick to my - 10 ingredients - MC diet. What are wee ice creams?

I am on my diet now for a bit more than six months. I am amazed, besides gut/stomach/bowel improvement, how different (read better) I start to feel in general. I think it is the gluten. Gluten is not only the trigger or fuel for the MC, but also effects the whole body and the whole state of mind. So the improvement you are experiencing now is only a start!

I love to read these kind of messages, so great the diet advice here is working for so many people and help a lot of us to get their life back on track.

keep on the progress and so happy for you, you are doing so well.

Hi Emjayn,

It's great to "hear" how well you're doing, and I hope that as time passes, you will continue to feel better and better, as your body continues to heal.

Thank you for the progress report. Such feedback allows us to learn a lot about how well these treatments work, in the long run.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hello again and Thanks for your responses Harma, Tex and Stanz. To reply to your queries Harma, no, I'm not on any medication for my LC, only diet changes and OFF the pain meds.( I am still on thyroid and heart meds tho) so I am lucky. I see my specialist again in late July and dont expect he will prescribe any as I think Im doing OK. ( I see him after our 10 days in Rarotonga with hubby, daughter and Son in law.. Is going to be interesting to select my food carefully with all those raw fruits and vegs in the Pacific Islands)
Re the 2 wee icecreams.. "wee" is one of our words for small, or little. My mum was from Scotland and I guess thats why I use it so much.
Thankyou all again for all the encouragement.

Hi Emjayn,

Thrilled to hear that you are finding the way to better health and that you have progressed so much in just a couple of months. Keep doing what you are doing and the gut will just continue to heal.

Here's to good health.
