TGIF!
Wow this has been an exhausting week. I am still struggling to get my energy back. As Geoff says, I need to do a little more each day (i.e. exercise). I pulled weeds in my raspberry patch last night until it was so dark I could hardly see what I was doing. That helps the physical part, but mentally I still feel drained. Like there is a big weight on top of me...my doc doesn't even want to talk about the surgery until we are closer...he is adamant about my having the 6 months of Lupron first.
Took our latest kitten to the vets last night for her boosters. This is the one that took up residence in the garage a month or two ago. Well, this trip the vet thinks she is pregnant. Its early though and because of all the unwanted animals out there, the vet recommends going ahead and spaying her. I agreed because I sure can't take any more in, and the shelter was over capacity when I called about her. I have wondered, because she has a pretty round little belly. But then Tigger always did at that age too, and he was definately NOT pregnant. The vet said she couldn't be certain (because its early) but I guess she was certain enough to talk to me about it. Hope this doesn't stir up too many politics. I feel as strongly about giving animals (and people) a chance at life. But I want them to have a good life, and there are too many out there who need their lives improved, so I can't see letting more come into this world to struggle on their own.
Well, I gotta get ready to head to a meeting with my boss. I'm in early this morning to get some stuff done first. He is at another meeting and then I'll meet him at a Park and Ride near that one and we'll go up to this other one together.

Hi Katy!
I hope you get some rest this weekend! And I totally understand about wanting to get Kitty spayed - strays having more strays - not a good thing! I wish more pet owners took responsibility and had it done.
Geoff is right about taking things slow to regain your energy. My dad is facing the same deal after his heart procedure - those medical things really knock you off your feet (energy-wise!) - plus you have a demanding job - don't push yourself too hard!
We are off for a weekend of camping along the Carmel/Monterey coast with my old college roommate - it will be fun, but honestly I am so *done* with the laundry/packing for 5 people - I'm ready to spend August at home I guess I wouldn't make a very good adventurer/world traveler - I need my downtime and I LOVE my own bed!!!!
I'll check in on Monday
Love,
Mary

Morning Katy,
Please do rest and get your strength back - it is important for you to do this. Also, I 100% agree on the spaying issue.
I am thrilled it is Friday because it has been a very long and hot week and am looking forward to the 2 days off that will fly by at the speed of sound.
Love, Maggie

I also 100% agree about the spaying. We "rescued" the littermate to our bloodhound from a family who locked her in the basement while they worked. She was locked up all day with a Mastiff and a Rott-Mastiff (both males). While asking questions the night I took her, I asked if she was spayed or if she could be pregnant. The look on their face (DUH) was obvious that we saved her in time.
We had her to the vet within 2 days and needless to say she was pregnant with 10 puppies. Sadie was 11 months old. The Vet said it probably would have killed her if we wouldn't have had her spayed when we did.
This is a perfect example of irresponsible pet owners!!!
Sadie also was infested with fleas which had her skin in a mess and a severe ear infection which took almost a year of constant antibiotics to heal (good thing she didn't get colitis from the antibiotics!).
She is the most wonderful, passive big lug you ever met! Can you tell we love her?
